Just got the unit yesterday. As other sellers have mentioned, the battery compartment is set up ofor AA batteries but there are no electrode or wiring so you can not use this with AA batteries. It does have a lithium battery in the compartment and it came partially charged. The usb cord does not go to my pc but charges the lithium battery. There is an adapter for a sd card to fit into my computer. It did not come with an SD card so you have to supply your own. The IR and camera features work as described. The display is easy to use and crystal clear. I can switch between IR and regular viewing easily. I have not used this item much since I just got it yesterday but it seems like a good value for the money.

I got this mainly with the plans to take it apart and see what is inside it, with the intention of getting a second one if I find it suitable so I can make my own 3d printed digital NVGs. It's nice because it has a rechargeable battery and takes a Type-C connector for charging, with reasonable image quality and IR performance. My only real gripes are that the display is too bright and the eye relief is too far so you can't hold it right up to your face and see clearly. But for sub-$50 it's not terrible.

Compactness Image

So this thing works well and pretty clear image, but it includes an unspecified rechargeable battery without the charger?? It states that it’s supposed to use 5 AA batteries but there’s no terminals in the actual device for the batteries. Instead I’m stuck with a battery I can’t charge or use AA batteries. Sucks!!!

This thing is pretty cool.Works great so far. I can see in complete darkness. Not sure what the usb drive is for but i only skimmed the directions.For the price its awesomeAnd its crystal clear as long as you focus it right which is easy. 👍

Unlike the description the unit I received had a battery compartment that was molded to take AA batteries but there were no contacts or wiring. Instead a unknown rechargeable battery pack was installed. I do not need another lithium battery device to deal with when traveling by air.

It does work, it is ir nightvision, which means it uses invisible ir light then the camera picks it up and shows the illumination the human eye could not see. The plus is you can get an sd card for it and record video and pictures.The down side is range is limited, the bigger downside is that it is at a higher rate of zoom, this is bad if you want a better field of view around you, but this also seems to be the trend for anything short of the 200 dollar mark.The price is right for what it does, I just wish the ir was a little stronger and that it had 1x zoom.
