My mechanic friend told me I would be better off throwing $20 out the window
I bought this when my car battery died and at the same time the hood latch broke. My mechanic friend told me I would be better off throwing $20 out the window. He was right. This didn't work, even after half an hour of charging the battery. I finally did get the hood open, jumped the car, and drove right down to the post office to send this thing back to Amazon

AVOID!
Do not waste your money! I followed directions and let it sit for 10 minutes. It didn't start. It showed promise however, so I left it in for another 15 minutes. Went to turn it on and no change. After about 3 minutes the green light went out and it was as dead as it was. My car wasn't even completely dead. There are other jump packs you can get for less that actually WORK.

Does it work?
If you have read the other reviews, you know that there is some debate over whether this works or not. Having tested this product, I will say that almost everyone is right - on both sides of this debate. This is because there is confusion about what this product actually is and what it actually does. It is probably improperly described as "jump start" device. When you hook jumpers to your car from another car or from a portable jumper, electricity is sent to both the discharged battery and the engine. When the electricity goes to the engine, it allows it to start by sparking the gasoline. This product does not do that and is not designed to do that. So, technically, you cannot jump start your car with this. However, this does not mean that it will not help start your car if your battery is dead. This is because this is actually a battery charger. When you hook up Mighty Jump to your lighter, it is supposed to start recharging your battery. The electricity it is sending through the circuits to your battery is not enough at any moment to start your engine directly, but it is charging your battery. After 10-15 minutes, your battery may very well have enough current to start your engine. So, technically, it is correct to say that this will not work to jump start your engine. It could though recharge your battery, and this could very well get your engine to start. This will only work though if your battery is capable of holding a charge or being recharged. If it is old and needs replacing, this product will do nothing for you. On the other hand, if you leave your lights on for a few hours and your car won't start, this could very well be enough to help you get it started.Do you I recommend this? Only if you have a good battery and you can get this at a good price.Do I recommend that you buy a more expensive portable jump starter instead? From my experience, they are not very reliable either. They are essentially just rechargeable batteries, probably very similar to your car battery. That means they will wear out relatively quickly. For the price, you could probably just replace your car battery. For that reason, the Mighty Jump at a smaller price point is very tempting. In general, having a set of jumper cables would be your most reliable option - particularly if you live in an urban setting with a lot of people around. If you are out in the middle of nowhere regularly, you might want to invest in something more versatile (and more expensive). If you can get this at a good price, it would be a good option for just running down your battery from leaving your lights on. If you suspect that your battery is bad or is getting old, this will do nothing under those circumstances.

N E G A T I V E O N E S T A R ? ?
Oh ! You mean this isn’t a review for a super-light doorstop?? Between waiting for its delivery and being frustrated because it doesn’t work, getting my car started and moving again wasn’t helped by this puc.Don’t bother asking for any particular color because your request shall be ignored. Not to worry: it doesn’t work equally well in all colors!

Doesn’t work and missing parts
The mighty jump did not jump my Acura TL on a 40 degree day and it also indicated the battery was damaged. However, AAA jumped the battery easily on the subsequent 12 degree day and the battery is not damaged. Also the item was missing the mini jumper cables. The OM packaging says these cables are included. The gold colored canister is attractive as a paperweight, hence the one star.

Product did not work at all.
Followed instructions exactly, inserted plug in lighter socket and got a green light. Moved switch forward and also received a green light. Tried to start the vehicle and it responded the same as before the Mighty Jump Pro was inserted. Seems to be a total waste of money.

A great gadget to have in the car
Your battery can't be completely dead, but it does work otherwise. My truck had been sitting up for months, so naturally I had to use my other car to jump it initially.
