Works as Intended (Bottom of handle is supposed to be sharp)
Works as intended. It's a reflex hammer, it's not a super high tech piece of equipment. The bottom of the handle is sharp so it can be used to test fine touch sensation during a neurological exam. I'm surprised so many reviewers with a medical education failed to realize this. For the price, it's perfect for a medical student or health professional student.

Does the Job
The reflex hammer is, well, a reflex hammer. There's not much more to be said. Contrary to other reviews, I ordered the black and received a hammer with a silver handle and black rubber head. It's nicely made and does not have an odor about it. I didn't pay attention to the texture on the head, however, and it took me by surprise. It's not a big deal but I wouldn't have necessarily chosen it. Otherwise it is a satisfactory product and it gets the job done.

Excellent value
I bought this for a child's doctor kit. It has been standing up really well to multiple toddlers. If anyone else is considering using them as a toy, making your own med kit for under $25 is possible and they have far more play value than those found in the toy section.

Can't go wrong with this hammer.
Solid product, the rubber is a bit softer than the red rubber hammers I've had in the past. Been using this one for 6 months or so.

It's good
It is made of good-quality metal and rubber. The head doesn't fall off. The point end of the handle is a little too pointed. I know that is supposed to be used to check some reflexes, but I don't want to scratch my patients. I sanded it off. I took one star off the rating for that.

Great for intro to reflex testing
Great for intro to reflex testing. Queen's hammer is said to be better for actual clinical use, but this is good for pre-clin learning years

As expected for the price. Light weight. Gets the job done. Not anything to cry over if it gets lost in clinic.

Cheap
Cheap and the bottom of the handle is almost like a weapon. Hammer is just poorly molded hard plastic with poorly made texture over it. It does have weight though. When used to tap just below the knee cap- the reflex was triggered.Used for prop. Would have been angry if it was meant for a doctor's office.
