Works best with cotton and Vaseline
I don’t know that these would be 100% effective at preventing all water from entering the ear on their own, but they are a game-changer if you’re following the often-recommended technique of using a cotton ball with Vaseline. My ear doctor recommended that to prevent water from entering my ear when I shower, I put a cotton ball in my ear and cover it with Vaseline to create a waterproof barrier. This really works, but the Vaseline gets in my hair. Now, I use the cotton ball with Vaseline and put one of these covers over that. It prevents the Vaseline from getting in my hair and creates a very effective waterproof barrier.

Good Barrier
I have Lyric hearing aides. They are placed completely out of site in the ear canal and replaced every 4-6 weeks. The company says don’t swim or skydive, but showering is safe. Well, showering can be dicy. I never let the spray point directly in my ears, but I had several units die within a week. When removed the foam housing was wet. I mentioned my observation to my audiologist, but she said it was probably just a bad batch of Lyrics and insisted that they were shower safe. I was not convinced because everyone’s shower and ear anatomy is different. I saw these covers on Amazon and decided to experiment. Since using the covers, I have had no failures, and the devices are always dry when removed at replacement visits.A few tips: use a new pair for each shower, pull them on without over stretching the elastic.

Small and inconvenient
Unfortunately these are just too small and flimsy to be used on either a child or an adult. The elastic is very loose so it really doesn’t stay.

Works good
I got some of these to use when I got my hair permed due to having fresh piercings. They works well and protected my ears. A lot of ppl in the reviews are complaining that it still lets water in, no duh! It’s not taped to your ear or skin tight so it’s not 100% gonna be waterproof. It keeps them dryer for sure and has a layer between you and the water but no ear cover will be comalletky waterproof unless it sticks to your skin. Good product

Plastic ear covers
I use these to cover my ears when coloring my hair, they worked great! They even stayed in place when I washed my hair after coloring!

I got this for swimmers ear
No, I do not wear them swimming. Somehow, got swimmers ear in the shower. So I used one to keep water out for a few days. Just to keep the ear canal dry for a week or so.ENTs say to keep water out of the ear. I can see why. Very painful infection. These are fine but very basic and, a little hard to put on. Also, they do not seal perfectly on the front so, you have to be careful when facing the shower. But they work well on the back. I can shampoo around the ear and it is fine.

Or Great in the shower @ great price
Needed them after your surgery and they worked great at keeping the canal dry. Afterward shared them with my mom who wears a hearing aid so that she could leave it in while in the shower. It’s a mini shower cap for the ear.
