Make lids available alone
This is a very functional trash receptacle Hefty has been making for a number of years. It fits conveniently into narrow spaces. It would be helpful if the lid was sold separately also because the latch on our lid wore out after 4 years while the bin is just fine.

pokes holes in your trash bags
I'm revising my original review - downgrading from 4 stars to 2 stars. I didn't notice the little spikes in the bottom of the trash can at first. I noticed just now when I went to empty the trash because it leaked all over the place. That never happened to me before, so I looked inside and saw there are four sharp corners sticking up from the bottom. What idiot designed this?? Tomorrow I'll see if I can file those into a smooth concave curves with my Dremel. Maybe I should file them away completely. Why are they even there?? I'm attaching a picture.I'm giving it 2 stars instead of 1 because I still like the way the lid opens, and I like the size and shape. I hope I'm able to fix it. If not, I'll revise it down to 1 star.======================I wanted a kitchen trash can with a lid that was both fast opening and completely removable. This one would be perfect if the lid were more tight-fitting, but it's as close to perfect as I could find. It's simple, sturdy, perfectly sized for 13 gallon kitchen trash bags, and fits perfectly in its spot. I expect it to last a long time and I'm happy with it.

Hefty kitchen trash can
My favorite trash can. I like the lid. This is my 3rd of the same kind in 5 years. The wire spring hinge eventually starts getting hung up, popping out, just giving issues until it comes out and gets lost. Then I search for other cans I like as much in this price range, and don’t find anything and come back to it. But on the bright side the other broken cans have been repurposed in other places in the house. One ended up in the laundry, one for recycling... maybe I’ll be back again, maybe not. Either way, i highly recommend!

It's nothing too special
It's an affordable option considering how expensive kitchen trash cans can get. As someone who doesn't produce a whole lot of waste and is living alone, It's a good size for me. My only problem with it is the lid doesn't attach too tightly to the can. If you're looking for something air tight, this probably isn't your best bet, but I consider it a pretty alright purchase.I guess just be weary of which lid option you choose because I saw a lot of reviews complaining about broken lids. I choose the rectangle touch lid because I thought it would hold up better. Upon receiving the product, it looks like it will hold up.

The Only Trashcan You Need
I had one of these in college but gave it away. Then I put a swing top can on our registry when we got married. I absolutely hated it because my hand always got caught and it seemed to always need emptied. So I went back to one of these because they’re the best. The lid locks closed so there’s never any odors. The lid doesn’t take up room in the can so you can fill it to the brim. Normal trash bags fit nicely inside and around the top.

Love it, but the springs that pop open the top didn't take long to pop out and fall somewhere into the kitchen garbage (which I chose not to dig through to find them). Wish I could get new springs with directions on how to install them--that would not pop out again.

latch broke
I got this because one of my cats is obsessed with chewing plastic. So a lid that locks down was the best solution. Well it worked great, until ony 6 months later. The latch broke and for reasons I don't understand finding a replacement latch, or replacement lid is impossible. One reveiw advised contacting the company directly since they had a great and very helpful experience. I basically got the brush off (Via amazon) So I'm honestly not that impressed.
