does not work with my dsc-w55
I had good luck with generic before but this one is a bust. I tried two cords from two sellers and neither one worked. Pain in my butt. I even searched for the exact product code. No dice. The fit is wrong. Too loose or too tight. Save the aggravation. I'm trying a separate battery charger. Maybe that will work. I have the feeling that I should have just gone to radio shack.

Good item for the price!
After my dog ate my Sony USB cord, I purchased this as a replacement cord. It is a little hard to attach and unattach, but other than that, it does exactly what I purchased it to do...transfer pics from camera to computer! And it didn't cost me an arm and a leg, so I can still love my puppy!

Five Stars
Excellent USB Cable.

Junk
From the first day the connection was flakey. After a few tries, with pressure in one direction, a connection works. So I have to hold it, tweaked, while the pictures download. After 2 dozen uses, it no longer works no matter what I do.

Low quality, won't last
Had this cable for less than 2 months, used it at most 10 times. The other day while pulling it out of my dsc-w80, the male connector separated from the rest of the cable (see pic). I didn't use much force, and I was pressing the side buttons. I don't see how you can get it back together with all those little wires, so it's dead in my opinion. Going to try a slightly more pricey option, hopefully with more success.

you get what you pay for
This is not just cheaply priced it's cheaply made. I got two uses out of it before it stopped working; the connection to the camera is made of an inferior metal. I would suggest forking out a few extra bucks to buy a better quality cable.
