Smaller then I thought it would be, which is a good thing. Works well except the wromgear doesn't mover smoothly. Once in a while there's more resistance then normal, which moves the camera slightly. When you're 100 photos in can be a problem.

Granted, I have only used this once and I'm still not quite sure what I'm doing as no instructions at all came with the product. Because of that, I don't know if the side-to-side jerking is normal or if mine is defective. Basically, as I turn either knob, something inside abruptly jerks the slide left or right, but just slightly. If I focus dead center, then turn the knob either way, my focus moves left or right.Other than that, it's not bad. The knobs move freely. The slide is nice and heavy. The numbers are fairly easy to read. Well done. Just fix the jerk (and I don't mean me).

Am using this for extreme macro photography. Had to make a base for it using MDF. Now it's completely stable with no wobble.The tolerances at the shoe plate and rails need to be tighter to use out of the box for extreme focus stacking but for general macro photography it is great!

In the hunt for a precision Macro focusing rail this was my first purchased. I chose it based on price and reviews. Sadly, my copy was not precise at all in its movement. It may have worked well for someone doing a single macro photo, but not for someone attempting focus stacks. While tuning the adjustment knob to move the camera forward or backward the composition would shift quite a bit.
