SCAL G9 HEADSET

Daily commuter that loves this unit
I love my G9. I use it to connect to my phone via Bluetooth (setup was very easy). I use the phone for GPS, streaming music, listening to my own stored music, and dread, I answer phone calls when they come in. It works well for all of these items. I have not used my G9 as an intercom system so can't comment on thatI do not originate calls from the unit, I only answer incoming calls. Answering works fine by simply yelling "hello" or anything else into the mic. Once talking most people cannot tell I am on my motorcycle (or even that I am not in the office) unless I am going above 70. At that point people tell me they can hear some background noise. I have not experimented to much with voice dialing. My voice command does not work well on my phone period, so voice dialing is a bit cumbersome. When I had my G4 I used an app (I believe it was Speak to Call) to assist with this. With that app and some others you record your voice command and tag a contact with it. This is cumbersome but works extremely well. Record through your G9 while there is lots of noise around (I turned up the volume on my TV to full tilt with a motorcycle race on). Once I had tagged my most common contacts this never failed for me when I originated calls from my G4. I did this with my G4 on my EVO, but haven't gone through to process with the G9 on my new Samsung but am certain it will work as well or better.Other important items: My commute is an hour each way. Normally my unit will work all week on a single charge. I wear ear plugs to filter out wind noise and the volume is loud enough for me to hear my music and calls fine. I have not had any issues mounting to my Arai or HJC full face helmets. Make sure you align the speaker directly with your ear canal. It makes a large difference in the volume range. The radio tuner on the G9 works much better than the tuner on the G4 and I have no issues getting the channels I want. I do not have any issues using the G9 push button controls and I wear somewhat thick highly protective gloves..

Not for the impatient person
Product is a little complicated to learn initially. Each buttin has 2-3 features that it control depending on if you press the button, hold the button for 2 seconds, or press the button for 5 seconds. Once paired with my cell with blue tooth, I am able to listen to music and increase and decrease the volume, but if I press the wrong botton, or hold it for too long, the music stops and I can not start it back up again. The voice commands "music on and music off dont work for me. I have used this product multiple times and is s SLOW and frustrating process to learn how to operate. I spend approximately half of my riding either wanting to skip tracks, or when I try to skip tracks, I end up not listening to anything at all until I stop, turn the device off and back on then reconnect. I hope my opinion of this product improves with time and experience.

Good headset when it pairs
It's one of the best rated motorcycle headsets, but it could be much better. I ride with the same 2 people who also have the same headset over and over again, and it's always a process to get them to pair. And it seemed nearly impossible to pair 3 headsets together, as it kept disconnecting one of us after 5 minutes.

I would recommend this to a friend!
Pretty nice to Listen to and not had earbuds jammed into the ear while on rides. I do enjoy the engine sound but for long rides it's nice to have some music. Only thing it's hard for me to hear someone I am connected to or on the phone through the speakers. Not sure if that was my fault on installing the speakers but I can hear the radio and my music connected with bluetooth well. I have also had the right speaker stop working. I did contact Cardo company and they replaced it with new speakers.

Scala G9
At first, I wasn't impressed. Particularly low volume. But, after finding the speaker boosters and orienting the helmet speakers, that problem went away. I love the duplex capability. My mic was probably open all the time from wind noise but we were still able to communicate...although my wife had to listen to my radio on the bike. It's a bit cumbersome to configure the features from the PC, but I'll deal with that.

Works like a charm
No issues. Seller delivered it before anticipated date. Synced with iPhone effortlessly. Using it now mainly for streaming music, but am now delving into different other uses, answering calls, online directions... etc.....

and that was very easy. Hopefully the rest will go as smoothly
Just got this, have not installed on my helmet, but I have updated through the web site, and that was very easy. Hopefully the rest will go as smoothly.
