Q: Amazon says this is often bought, is this the only thing some use to finish the whole island? john taylor butcher block cond mineral oil/wax.

No. I used some off-brand mineral oil after lightly sanding the island. Since then i’ve been conditioning the block with John Boos mystery oil and cream.

Q: Can you please give full specifications, height, width, length and weight

Island table is 36"L x 24"W x 36"H. Weight is close to 100LBS. Comes unfinished. Wood accepts stain/sealer very well. Not sure what type of wood it is, but is heavy, and very dense. So far I have found it to be exactly what I was looking for in a kitchen island table.

Q: Can the wooden top be removed if I wanted to replace it with a quartz top to match the rest of my kitchen countertops?

I think it would be difficult. When it arrives the butcher block top is attached to the drawer and the sides. You have to just bolt the four legs in place and then put the shelves in. Maybe you could put the quartz on top but that would add height....unless you cut the legs shorter :-O

Q: Can the top block be stained a different color?

I am sure it can I would test the stain on the on underside of it first to make sure the colors and the patterns match what you need.
