This is my second review of an excellent device to add safety around your bath, the first seems to have evaporated. The vacuum works VERY well and requires sincere effort to move or remove it once it is positioned. Small tabs on each end allow you to pull (with effort!) the silicone vacuum pad enough to break the vacuum. The effort necessary is reassuring as it indicates how well the grab handle secures to the smooth surface. Note that the surface must be smooth and unbroken to assure a safe mounting.While 4 by 4 inch ceramic tiles do have about 1/8" of grout between them, the grab bars are sized so that the center of the vacuum pad is safely in the center of the tiles (see picture) and is safely adhered to the surface. I have several of these now and my satisfaction with the first made me look for the exact item again. Even before we recognize we can't escape the frailties of aging, a decent bit of forethought can add safety at a reasonable investment.

I recently had bone surgery on my leg. Shower grab bars were a life saver. Installed correctly and securly you can bathe and shower with peace of mind. They are like holding the strongest hand of assistance. I truly don’t know what I would do without these. They will be there for you to grasp and keep from falling . They are easy to clean and indestructible . These are first class aids for my family safety . You can feel independent with your self care with these wonderful grab bars . I cannot thank you enough.

We installed these about three months ago in the shower. They installed easily and seemed really sturdy. Until this morning when I grabbed one of them for support and it slid down about six inches on the tile. So I checked the other one to see if it was still solid and it slid down the wall too. I will attempt to reattach them, but now I don't trust them. If I slip, I want to be sure that when I grab for support, that I'll actually have that support. I wouldn't buy these again. This is an update. I have changed my review from two stars to one. We reattached the grab bars. Within 36 hours, one of them fell off...in the middle of the night when no one was anywhere the shower. The second one lasted a few weeks longer, but started sliding down the tile over a week ago. This morning it fell off by itself...again no one was anywhere near the shower. I think these grab bars are dangerous. If you have them installed, you expect them to be there for support. When you slip and grab hold and they just slide, they're more dangerous than having no support at all. At least when you have no support, you're aware of it. When you have these for support and they don't support you, you could wind up in the ER or the morgue. DON'T BUY THESE! They're dangerous and scary.

I bought these for my aged parents to use when they came and visited us. They are only 83, but I only had a bathtub/shower combo for them to use. I wanted to make sure they were safe when stepping over the tub walls when entering/exiting the shower. I bought these and they worked great. They were easy to install on the flat shower wall surface and held firm. They stayed with us for 5 nights. When it came time to remove them, they came right off using the little tabs to pull up the suction cups. I'd recommend these for anyone in a similar situation when permanent bars don't make sense.

These suction cup handles generally work well if they're attached to a flat, clean, very smooth wall. Even then my experience is they will fall off after a day or two. The manufacturer recommends they be re-installed before each use which can be a nuisance. I use a "hack" which greatly improves the longevity of the suction so the handles stay attached much longer. Simply apply a very thin layer of grease all around the outer rim of each suction cup before attaching to a wall. This sounds counter intuitive but it works by improving the seal. Again, a VERY THIN layer of grease. I use a silicone grease but perhaps something like Vaseline might work well.

I looked at a lot of grab bars on Amazon before I decided on this brand. I saw other people's comments about what they did to make their grab bars stay on -- cleaned the wall, cleaned the suction cups with rubbing alcohol, pus the grab bar really hard for 5 seconds before pressing the tabs down.I did that before installing it on my shower wall of cultured marble. Within the first 24 hours, one bar fell off 4 times. The other one stayed on fine.Since the one bar wouldn't stick, I got a replacement set. (It arrived the very next day after I requested it from Amazon!) I did the same cleaning for this set of bars and installed them in my shower. They've been installed for a week now and I haven't had any problems whatsoever. I'm so glad!I recommend these grab bars!

UPDATE: Although the product itself did not work for me, I am upgrading my review to reflect the outstanding customer service from the company, which contacted me after reading the review below in an effort to make things right. Good customer service goes a long way.—————————We purchased these to place in our shower during a surgery recovery. We followed all instructions, to include preparation of the wall, and have an appropriate mounting surface. Prior to entering the shower we check for adhesion, and always have to re-affix. I’ve been awakened in the night by one falling off of the wall, which it has repeatedly done, and the other has fallen off as well. We have another, more expensive, option, that is far more reliable and less apt to put one’s health at risk. You get what you pay for.
