EGWVortex Viper-Venom & Burris FastFire-Docter Kimber 1911 Fix Sight Mount

There are several remarks that say it does'nt fit...but you need to read the instructions. It says have a gunsmith install it. It's not truly a drop in fit. I was able to measure the dovetail in my Kimber and measure the dovetail on the mount and found the mount was about 3 to 5 thousands inch too wide. It took me about 5 minutes with a small triangular jewelers file to CAREFULLY and SLOWLY remove just enough off of one of the sides of the dovetail on the sight to fit in the slot on the Kimber. I took my time and measured and checked about 5 times as I slowly filed. I tapped it in with a rubber mallet (on a wooden block) and it fits and looks perfect. Excellent product. I'll be installing a Burris Fastfire when it arrives and will update after I shoot it.

Well made and easy to install with proper guns smithing tools. No other optic mounting options available for Ruger P-series or MK handguns. Gave it 4 stars for sturdiness comparing it to direct mount/cut slide. Pending range trip to test ability to maintain zero. Overall, I’m very satisfied and recommend it.

This is a very good mount but you will need to do a little Gunsmith work on it if you install it on a Ruger P85.As it comes you will need to sand the V mount area on the mount down some or you will never get it into the V channel of the P85 gun (WAY TO TIGHT OF A FIT on a P85!)Once sanded down to the right fit this is a GREAT mount.When sanding take very little off at a time, try the fit and if still to tight sand a little more, do not take anymore then you need to make it a snug fit.

Product came with one socket head cap screw and one counter sunk screw, no allen head for locking in place. Locking screw hole was not center 1/4" from edge.

Kimber, for reasons i can't fathom are the nastiest guns to remove/add sights to. This add-on for a gun sight is no different. If you have a Kimber Custom Crimson 2 and want to add this you would be wise to have a set of files to shave a little bit of the metal off it to get it to fit or you will be cursing the entire time trying to get this attached. Also, it helps to have a sight attach tool, but you'll only be able to use the tool when you've gotten this sight attachment over halfway on as it's too big to fit in the tool otherwise. It was a P.I.T.A. to attach, but i'm happy with the results. Would give 5 stars if it were machined to just a little bit better fit. Sights should not be this difficult to attach.

I wanted to mount a vortex venom on my 1911. I will eventually get the slide milled to except the red dot, but with all the craziness in the world right now, the lead time to get it done is too long. This was a cheap alternative to get the red dot mounted in the mean time.

Not easily mounted. One sight pusher I bought for the job wasn't up for the task. It damaged the mount due to pressures being too high. I've ordered a new mount from same company and different sight tool so I'll try again. I tried everything short of filing and polishing to get this into a Ruger P90 to no avail. Also, their YT channel says the mount should be drifted left to right. Ruger says right to left to mount. Am I missing something? Did I just wedge the damaged sight in (and heaven only knows when it'll come out) because somehow this was made to do the opposite of the manufacturers instructions?
