Paperlike Screen Protector (2x) for iPad Pro 12.9" (2018/20/21/22) for an authentic paper-feel

My original review is below. I had a hard time with installation due to dust and air bubbles. I complained that there was no tool included to remove air bubbles, so when I was trying to eliminate them by pressing them out with my fingers, the sticky side of the protector was exposed to the air too long and I ended up getting a lot of dust particles. Paperlike read my review and sent me a replacement protector and also advised me to use something like a credit card to press out the bubbles. And they explained that they do not include a tool in order to reduce waste since most people will have a card / ID of some sort. I totally support this. I used a card to install the replacement screen and it worked like a charm. The protector is perfect now. I'm not sure why my first one was scuffing, but so far I'm not seeing that problem with the replacement.---Original review:The first screen I installed had so many bubbles in it and seemed to draw in lint from the environment, had to discard. I install screen protectors regularly. With these, you have to lay them down really fast or you end up with lint. But installing fast means you don't have the opportunity to press or the air bubbles and no tool is provided for this purpose. I installed the 2nd screen more to my satisfaction but I'm finding that it scuffs easily despite me storing my ipad in a laptop sleeve and the scuffs don't come off with cleaning. They are not scuffs caused by my Apple Pencil. I have no idea what they are, but I store my other iPad the same way and have never experienced this. I have another iPad for work and I installed a cheaper matte screen protector from an "off" brand and it has none of these problems. I went with the "nicer" protector for my personal iPad, but I feel like I wasted my money on this and will just have to buy another set of cheaper matte protectors. Can't seem to get any customer support since I've "used" these by installing them. Not a fan of wasting $45 plus the cost of protectors that I know will work. Goes to show that marketing efforts don't always equal quality.

The media could not be loaded. Guys!! This might be a little pricey but it’s so worth it. It’s so clear it doesn’t even look there’s something on top of the iPad screen. It was easy to install. Made a mistake the first time putting it on but it was easy to remove. It doesn’t interfere with the touch sensitivity. It’s literal like writing on a piece of paper but a lot smoother and with more pleasing sound. It fit so well and it’s refit functional especially if you like to do digital art, notes, planners, etc.

I’ve bought maybe 5 or 6 screen protectors for my 12.9 iPad Pro, with the last 4 being a paper-type protector as I do photo/video editing along with art using the iPad fairly often. Most of the screen protectors were on the cheaper side, and while they worked, there was always something missing - whether it be the screen was too rough for the Apple Pencil, or the glare made seeing the screen too difficult.So I decided to pay more for a change and try out Paperlike. Package came in, pretty much crammed into my mailbox. But it wasn’t until I was installing the protector, and peeling off the top piece of plastic that I really noticed there was a big dent in the product.I tried to do what I could without destroying the actual screen of the iPad to no avail, the dent was definitely there to stay. Even more unfortunately, the 2nd screen protector had the same dent in the same spot. Which I’m sure happened after the package began it’s shipping journey.With all that being said, I still wanted to see if it was worth the extra money. And I have to say that yes, it is worth the extra money.-The glare on the paperlike from other lights in the room is substantially less obvious from any of the other brands I have tried.-With this type of matte screen, there’s really not much of a way around there being SOME degree of blur caused by the screen protector. Though it’s apparent, it is just as visible if not slightly more so than any other paper-feel screen I have purchased.-when using the Apple Pencil, this is where this screen protector really shines. I often think of film grain when I think of these paper-feel screens, and this has the highest quality, and softest “film grain” feel to it. There is no adjustment period, it just feels like it’s supposed to feel. Which is fantastic in my opinion.-lastly, installation could not have been easier. They ship everything you need to essentially guarantee that you can’t mess up the process of installation.After a few hours of use, my only regret is that I didn’t pay the extra money to get this screen in the very beginning.With all that being said, the dent is just far too obvious. If you’re an artist of any sort, you know what I mean when I say that this dent just pulls me out of the immersive feeling of analog contact on a digital screen. I can’t help but stare at it, and constantly move my work to another side of the screen which just becomes a hassle.

I’ve tried a number of similar products that use Paperlike in their names and hadn’t been happy with those at all. So many of them had tons of reviews saying that they were the same feel as the Paperlike for half the price. I ended up removing those because they just didn’t function all that well.This screen protector, unlike the knock-offs, is quite smooth but still has a pleasing resistance to it. If you have used a Supernote, this screen protector has a bit more tack/grip/hold than those devices.So far, this is the best I’ve tried and I think I’ll probably leave this one on my 12.9” iPad Pro.The only thing that is a little difficult is applying it. Their instructions are great, they have a great system for aligning the film too. The problem is with all screen protectors and that is making sure everything is dust free the entire time you are applying it. The old trick of being in a somewhat steamy bathroom is probably the most effective solution cause dust is always an issue and it feels like dumb luck as to wether you can eliminate all of it until the moment the protector has adhered to the screen. I thought I had done it perfectly but a few bits stuck on the film as I was laying it down :( Oh well, this isn’t really an issue with this product, just screen protectors in general.
