A Good Addition to a Tag Reader Library
My four year old son has built up quite a collection of Tag books now, to make the best use of his Tag reader which helps to reinforce basic reading skills. This is one of our latest additions and has become a firm favourite. In all honesty, I think the actual story line is fairly weak and my son is not really a huge fan of the Madagascar films or the TV series. Despite that, this is the book that he chooses to 'read' repeatedly, sitting engrossed with his 'magic pen', so there is clearly something that he finds entertaining about this. (He now has ten books in his Tag collection so he certainly has plenty to choose from.)The games included here aren't particularly exciting but my son finds the final pages particularly entertaining. There are a selection of photos featuring the penguins and chimpanzees from the story and he loves listening to the sound effects that each one makes. As a parent, I think the book's strongest feature is the activity on the last page which lists lots of different words to describe different emotions (such as exhausted, joyful and curious) and the child has to match them up to the correct chimpanzee. This is quite a challenging task so I was surprised by how quickly my son was able to pick this up and how much information he absorbed from this task alone.Although the story is quite weak, my four year old seems to enjoy it and I do think the last task is particularly educational so I would recommend this book as an addition to a Tag Reader library, even though this is far from being the best in the collection.

Madagascar tag book - could be more exciting!
We now have a few TAG books on our bookshelf and I'd rate the TAG system in general as one of the better buys I've made for my two little boys. This is the system where the child uses a special "pen" to have the story read to them, either word by word, page by page or indeed have the whole story read in one go. The child can then additionally click on the pictures in the book to generate sounds and there are games that they can participate in too. This Madagascar book is aimed at slightly younger readers, (it states 4-6 years on the back), than some of the other recent books such as Spiderman and Ben 10. However, I found that some of the jokes in the book were difficult for such little ones to understand, even though they've seen the movie. It also seemed to lack a strong story line - it tells the Madagascar story largely from the Penguins' perspective and there isn't a whole lot of action to be honest. Despite this, the games at the end had the boys absorbed, as they have in the other books, and they enjoyed searching the pictures for the extra sounds.Out of all the TAG books, this is the one that the boys return to by far the least and I would strongly recommend some of the other TAG stories over this...unless your child happens to be a massive Madagascar fan. However, the TAG system in general...fantastic!! :)

This was bought for my neice as her parents had bought her the reading pen. She was very happy with it.

slightly disappointing
Got this for my daughter as she loves the Madagascar films, but be warned, they skimped on the cost and didn't employ the voice actors from the films. This has led to a lot of "Daddy, why are they different?" questions. and, to be honest, left us both a little disappointed.

Great book for a great system
Tag system is a wonderful play/learning tool. My child really enjoys this book probably one of the ones he chooses most to read. These books are well built and will last.

another nice Tag book
This Tag book is a good read for kids, there is not many games init. If you are looking for a Tag book that is more about reading then playing the games this is it. There is also a Tag game book you can get that is about the Penguins, the games in it are educational (wordsearch, spelling, ect). I bought both books, this book has more of the story line from the movie.

The Penguin are at it again
This is a good book. As a parent, I didn't think that this book was functional in terms of educating. There are better ones out. I'll give it one thumb up.
