Guerrilla Painter Plein Air Campaign Box

I really liked a French easel for the all in one storage it offers but they’re HEAVY, BULKY, and those LEGS… good grief those legs are a pain!!!! I liked the French mistress for the large work surface but there’s no storage.I love this because I can have my supplies handy, it holds all the paint I need, my palette my brushes, my apron, solvent, folded paper towels etc, good to go!!!I know most Plein air painters prefer to use a glass palette preloaded with lots of luscious paint which you can use with this, but I’m used to a resealable paper palette, I found the smallest Masterson 8 1/2 x 7” fits and allows room for my brushes and more. I trimmed off just a little of the tabs so that it will open side by side to give me a palette surface 8 1/2 x 14”…. and I can close it up and go, no fuss no muss no mess.Downsides are it’s still a little heavy, but well worth it to me to have everything in one place. I was a little disappointed by the build considering it’s called Guerilla Painter. The hardware looks a little flimsy so time will tell if it holds up. As I wasn’t sure how durable the finish was I treated it with a couple coats of poly inside and out. Also, it would be nice to have a shoulder strap, but that would be easy enough to add. Overall I’m giving it five thumbs up!

I purchased the campaign box, easel extension and palette. They are all of excellent quality and provided just what I needed for plain air and workshop mobility.

Very sturdy. Holds a ton of soft pastels. I added foam to the bottom and across the top to secure my paints. Highly recommend

I love the size of the Campaign Box, it carries everything I need and mounts to my tripod flawlessly. The not so good part of this box is the hardware is the cheapest junk they could find. The handle broke on my first trip, the screws were stripped from the factory so I am going to have to drill them out to change the handle. The wood is not treated from the factory. I bought this box from Blick on vacation and got caught in the rain on the first day out with it and it warped like crazy. luckily I got it back to the rental house and was able to use a hairdryer and salvage it. I will be tearing the entire box apart and replacing all of the hardware because the hinges are now starting to buckle. I would recommend others to get the dimensions and build one themselves. If you buy this one, you will be rebuilding it anyway so save yourself a couple hundred dollars and the frustration.
