Marmitek extra IR receiver (RF transmitter) for Powermid XL

The Marmitek system, is great for controlling your, Virgin Tivo box, or DVD player, from any tv in the house. Just add extra Marmitek receivers, & Virgin remote controls, & you can be in control from any tv. No more shouting to the kids, "SWITCH OVER".Would recommend.

unfortunately the "extra IR receiver" has now stoped working completely.. we have tried :: changing position in the room , changing angle , changing higher and lower positions , changing aerial position etc etc and yet the exact same remote that does Not work with "extra IR receiver" seems to work with the original Powermids purchased.. considering it is advertised to "Works through walls and floors" it is unable to function even within the same room... very disappointing.

As I have TV's in three rooms in my home, I neededed to buy an extra receiver, and so I now have two. I am very pleased with them as I can now receive Sky in all three rooms.Jacquie Austin Nottingham.

It turned out that, due to changed EU laws, the RF frequency had changed since I bought my other Powermids (many years ago). Keene dealt with this very well.

Not what I thought it was

It Appear that Marmitek have reversed the naming. What used to be called the receiver is now the transmitter. So I have the wrong item. No idea if it works or not but giving only 2 stars for the confusion this renaming has caused.

Product suffers with lots of interference problems and is unreliable. I works under strange conditions, such as if my bedroom light upstairs is on it won't work, but does when the light is off! Really odd and frustrating. Also, my wife parks her car outside our house and it interferes with the key fob so she cannot lock her car! The principle is good but the unreliability and annoying weird quirks make it VERY frustrating to use.

I have four of these. The fourth one did not work but I returned it and they sent me another straight away, which was fine. I have found that sometimes they seem to take an hour or so to connect with the IR transmitter at the other end, so if yours does not work immediately leave it a while before declaring it faulty.When using it do not press buttons too quickly on the Sky remote as it can miss them. Get into a habit of pressing at a steady rate , say one per second. Otherwise, they are a good solution to multi-room Sky box operation without actually going multi-room.
