DEFENDER DOLPHINS The Story of "Project Short Time"

Good coverage of Project Short Time
I actually worked with the dolphins in Guam, and served with Hal in the EOD reserves, so maybe I'm a bit biased. I learned a lot about the inception of the project, and operations in Viet Nam. There were a lot of familiar names, porpoise and human. It certainly fleshed out the material I picked up myself during my time with Slan and friends. Also nice to finally know it's been declassified and I can talk about it.

Great book!
Defender Dolphins is the story of a little known piece of military history, the use of trained dolphins in Vietnam. Service animals such as dogs have been used for years to protect our men in uniform. This book shines the spotlight on another animal, the dolphin. The reader comes away with an appreciation of the intelligence of these animals as well as their trainers. The author is both insightful and comprehensive as he explores this little known piece of history. I would recommend this book to divers, those interested in marine mammals or service animals, and those interested in military history.

Three Stars
Very intersting information.. A little hard to read if you're not up on military jargon, but still very interesting.

Habeas Porpoise and the Dogs of War
No index. Bad sign. Nice Timeline. Not totally factual but what is? Worth having if you care about manʻs exploitation of marine mammals. I eventually liberated one of the dolphins from this book. Another unwritten story.

I loved it!
I loved it! I've always been fascinated with the work that the Navy does with the dolphins. To hear about the true stories, the history, and all the ins/outs of the program, plus all the top secret information, excited me. The book was hard to put down. I felt like a spy reading it and yearning for more stories to come on the next pages. You should definitely read it!
