I have had weighted blankets before, one was the size for a child (5lbs) and the other was a queen size (15lbs). I loved both of them however, I have two Dachshunds and I was worried the weight would smother them because weighted blankets are not good for small animals. So I couldn’t use either one because one of the dogs was always cuddling with me and even the child size one would still be on top of one of my dogs.This time I ordered the 7lb lap sized blanket in the color gray and it is perfect! For reference, I am a female that weighs 120lbs and I am 5ft tall. It covers just the area I want it to and there’s no way either of my dogs can fit under it because it almost forms to your body and there just isn’t enough room for one of them to fit under it too. The gray color is just like it is shown in the stock photo and the material is super soft. For me, the 7lb one and it is just the right amount of weight.I have used mine every night ever since I bought it! It is so calming and is just the right amount of pressure to feel like you’re being hugged. I also use this during the day too on different parts/areas on my body (legs, back, stomach, or shoulders) whenever I am dealing with some discomfort/pain, anxiety, or a PTSD moment. And it truly does help!If you’ve never used a weighted blanket before it may feel “odd” at first. You have to give your body enough time to get used to the weight and the pressure. And depending on what weight you get will also depend on how quickly your body adjusts. For me, it was 4-5 days for a lower weight and for a heavier weight it was roughly 5-7 days TOPS. Now it was never uncomfortable during those days but your body still needs to get used to it. I’ve always been told to start small with the weight and then slowly increase it if the 7lbs for example, isn’t enough for you. You’re not supposed to start off immediately with a 15-20 pound blanket because the weight and pressure really does affect the body. I recommend doing a little research on what this can do for body pain and sore muscles as well as how it can affect you in a calming aspect too.I highly recommend this gray 7lb lap blanket! This blanket is just simply perfect! I’ll have to order one for my husband too but I imagine, eventually he will want a heavier weight than the 7lb but he will start off small and work his way up if needed or wanted! But do yourself a favor and order this blanket! Your mind and body will thank you!

This blanket is the perfect weight and has a great texture. I’m glad I did not go heavier. It will be good for colder months with a comforter over it though it is plenty warm by itself. Very happy with this purchase.

It’s nice and weighted right but not as soft as I thought it would be.

I use this constantly. It is the perfect size to use on the couch, but I also sleep with it over my torso. Small enough to carry with you and to wash, but heavy enough for therapeutic relief

Considering all the fur on it, I can definitely say my cat daughter approves. Very nice for me, too, but I value her opinion.

I absolutely love this blanket. It's soft. I've slept great and it keeps we warm.

This blanket is a good weight and very soft but it's very itchy, it kinda feels like a wool blanket, which isn't the best in my opinion, but the color is nice and if you ignore the itchy-ness it's a good blanket. Though I do have sensitive skin that might be why it's itchy to me
