The Best Purchase I've Made in Many Years!!!
We've been putting on an annual crayfish boil for the past 10 years or so. For the first 9 years we rented two burners and two 60 quart pots, but I finally decided to buy some better equipment this year, and I am so glad I did! The rental units were probably 50,000 BTUs at best, and with those it took nearly an hour to bring 40 or so quarts of water to a boil. With this 200,000 BTU CookAmp it took less than 30 minutes, and we were only running it about 75% open. I'll do a test with the gas at 100% when I get a chance and provide an update.Having a powerful burner is essential to a good finished product because you need to be able to return to a boil as quickly as possible after dumping in 25 - 30 pounds of crayfish. I cranked the gas up to 100% and we were boiling again in about 6 minutes, which is very fast.In addition to this burner I had another one which I bought at a local store earlier in the year. It is a jet burner capable of about 190,000 BTUs and the price was about $65 vs. $100 for the CookAmp. The cheaper burner is fine but I would highly recommend spending the extra money for the CookAmp for the following reasons:1.. The paint on the CookAmp is heat resistant. The appearance will change a bit but it will not burn off like the paint on the majority of other burners, including my cheaper one. When paint burns off it stinks and makes a mess.2. The CookAmp is very sturdy and substantial, a very high quality product.3. The wind guard on the CookAmp protects the flame better. In daylight it is hard to see the flame, but you can feel it, so you will know it is on!4. The CookAmp is quiet. The Jet burner was running right next to it and sounded like the engine of an F-18, which is kind of cool, but I think I prefer less noise and more action.5. The CookAmp has adjustable airflow so you can fine tune it for maximum output. (I messed with it just a little - it seemed to work perfectly no matter what I did with it.)For such a substantial piece of equipment, $100 is really not bad at all. I'm seriously thinking about getting another one and will probably keep the cheaper Jet burner as a backup. Yes, you can get a decent burner for a little less money, but this one is a huge bargain considering the quality and the price. I was nervous about taking a chance on a product that had not been reviewed yet, but I'm so glad I did!

Great for beer makers
We brewed a couple batches of a Russian Imperial stout for our first use of this burner. I loved that I was able to go from full on jet burner to get the wart up to a fast boil then was able to adjust the flame down for the gentler part of the boil.
