Easy printing. Why did I ever own an HP?
Why did you pick this product vs others?:After years of suffering with wonky HP software and drivers and ink pushes, we decided to switch to a regular black and white. I had a Brother printer (also B&W) years ago and it was trouble free. It still lives with my mother. Without the need to print in color, it opened the opportunity to get another Brother B&W. I ordered this one and threw the HP in the dumpster.Cue the Office Space montage.Anyway, plug this in, follow simple instructions, and print from any capable device anywhere in the house. We're a mostly Mac/iOS household and it works seamlessly. Also works for PC, guest ChromeBooks, and Android phones. It just does what you want it to do. Toner from the included tank seems like it will last a while, but we don't print more than once a week.Lovely to have tech that isn't AI-integrated and just does the thing, I must say.

Accepts 14-inch paper and does double sided printing.
I did a lot of investigation before purchasing this printer. And, I love it! I am still using the ink toner that came with the printer so I do not know if the cartridges will be cost effective. But, the wi-fi capability will overcome any toner cost. It easily works from my iPad, my iPhone, and my Mac. I can be upstairs and print on the printer downstairs. I am so glad I purchased this. It also does double-sided and accepts 14-inch paper. Not many wifi printers will do both.

Buyer Beware!!!!
Let me tell you first off, I have absolutely NO complaints about this printer. The printing is sharp enough for me and meets my needs. I actually bought another Brother printer a couple of months after this, but not the exact model as I wanted something a little less expensive. Now to the reason for 1 star... As I was balancing my checkbook, I saw there was a debit accorded to Brother Refresh program. I was on the phone (you couldn't chat about this matter, because I tried that first) for over an hour and 50 minutes! What was this charge for? So, here's my warning: The "FREE" trial for the Refresh program isn't really free at all. Apparently, they somehow keep track of the number of pages you print out and if you go over their specified number, they charge you FOR EACH ADDITIONAL PAGE! Apparently, I went over and was charged $25, plus tax. Okay... So I immediately said I want to cancel my "free" trial and asked for a refund of the amount charged to me.I have no complaints about the gentleman who I spoke with, although he had to go back and forth so much to figure out what the issue was. And apparently, they have a rule that the rep has to come on every 2 minutes to say he is working o the problem and would I mind allowing him another 2 minutes. I told him not to waste that time, that I would trust that he was trying to resolve things, but I guess it's protocol. So, after all that time, after explaining that I printed too many pages over and over (which I understood the first time), he said that they will not refund the charge. I asked to be transferred to someone who was in the department who handles the charge specifically, but he said he had to handle it.So, I wanted to know why, when I bought the printer AND the toner (and the paper, of course), and did NOT want the "free" trial, I was getting charged for the extra pages. Brother gave me nothing! The rep just kept repeating the fact that I printed too many pages. He couldn't seem to understand that it shouldn't matter as Brother had not given me anything in return for that charge. He said it was because I still had 30% of my toner left and they don't send it out until it's lower. I told him they aren't going to be sending the toner because I CANCELLED THE FREE PROGRAM! So why don't the refund me?! He didn't seem to understand... again, just repeated numerous times that I printed extra pages. Oh my goodness!Just to clarify, I was pleasant to him the entire time and assured him that I understood this wasn't his fault, etc. I apologized if I sounded frustrated toward the end of the call, although I wasn;'t shouting or anything... just trying to explain.I'm extremely frustrated and will try again another day to speak with someone who can understand that I have a problem with paying for a "free" service that I never benefited from. I just caution anyone who decides to purchase this or any other of Brother's printers that offer the Refresh program. Maybe others will appreciate it, but not me. At the time I bought the printer, I also bought replacement toner. And I certainly don't need anyone monitoring how many pages I print. Totally invasive! Unfortunately, I had my grandson set the printer up and link it to the computer. He apparently entered my information, thinking it was something he needed to do. He's a teenager. My bad, but the free trial is BS.

The set up gauntlet was typical but successful.
Downloading the Brother Printer app executed without a hitch. From start to finish this Brother app requires you to agree to four license agreements. You must carefully read the agreements to opt out of various reminder nags. While you are doing this downloading and agreeing there are continuous pop up ads.Wireless setup failed even though the printer, computer and router were all in close proximity and instructions were followed to the letter. When that happens, manual setup is required, which needs a rather old fashioned USB cable which may also require a USB C to USB first-generation adapter for most every current computer. Fortunately, I have a 10 drawer filing cabinet with virtually every cable ever invented. You will also need your administrators name and password. If you are connecting to a home computer you will need the administrators name found in your system settings.Manual installation was simple and completed without a problem. The printer, my computer and my network were then able to communicate. Wireless printing was successful even though wireless setup was not.The gauntlet of pop-up ads, downloads, user agreements, generic versus specific instructions for the device you are using, the need for special cables and general configuration hassles seem to be par for the course. There must be an easier way. But since this seems typical for every new device, I only doc-ed Brother 1 star.

Best small laser printer!
Replaced a cheaper ink jet printer that continuously had issues. This wouldn’t fit on the desk like the other one, so purchased a roll cart and it slides right under and is easily moved to get documents. This is a great laser printer adn even duplexes!

Easy setup, works great
This was really simple to setup. I didn't want to use the app but luckily you can use the buttons on the printer to find your WiFi network and enter the password. After that I test printed via WiFi air print from an iPhone and it worked perfectly. (I have it positioned 3’ from the router so that probably helps)
