Dr. Harvey'sKidney Health Kidney Support Supplement for Dogs (4 Ounces)

[Updated April 14,2020:] I bought Dr. Harvey's Canine Health food for my pup because I was having a hard time keeping up with her nutrient needs based on her kidneys and making sure I had the time to make her meals. With Canine Health and the kidney supplement together, my dog is literally fighting the bowl for every last lick. Her body is shaping out again and she's regaining energy with every passing day.----------------I bought this for my 17 year old silky terrier who was diagnosed with kidney disease. My vet told me I only had 1-2 weeks left with her. Heartbroken and in denial, I went to the internet and came across this. I make my dog's food with some mashed sweet potato, boiled carrots and peas, eggshell powder, and cooked lean ground beef. My dog barely licked at it and I was lucky if I was able to force at least an ounce of food in her a day.My dog had been pretty miserable: lack of appetite, fatigue while eating, and just sad hobbling all around. Until I added this kidney supplement to her food. Something about the smell triggered an interest in food, and for the first time in weeks, she was actively munching away. Maybe she knows it's good for her.I have no idea how this will affect my dog's prognosis, but I'm just happy that she actually ate and had a real interest in the food. My dog never really grew up eating wet food or even kibble, so when she lost interest in chicken and beef, it was a big red flag.The directions on the container is easy to follow. The scoop might be hidden in the powder itself, so dig for it if you don't see it at first! It has a nice cinnamon smell to it, it's easy to mix in to food, it definitely gave my dog her interest in food again. I will also be permanently switching to Dr. Harvey's Canine Health dehydrated food as well.

On February 5, 2025 bloodwork done showed creatinine (CREA) levels were at 1.9 for my 15 year old Shih-Tzu. We started k/d prescription dog food, but he stopped eating on March 22, 2025. On March 26th labs were done again and CREA results came back at 2.9. I ordered this product and began adding it to homemade dog food. I was worried he would not like the taste, but he started eating right away. On April 14, 2025 new labs were done and CREA dropped back down to 1.9. My vet was just as excited as I was to see the results. Next visit is in June for more bloodwork. Fingers crossed his numbers continue to improve.

Updated Review:Below was my previous review. Glad to say Dr. Harvey send a replacement and I am so glad I gave it to my dog. All his kidney level came back as normal on his follow up blood test today. I used Dr. Harvey’s kidney supplement, his Coenzyme Q10, Epakitin, probiotics and Hills veterinary kidney diet.Hope this review helps and gives hope to a pet owner facing kidney disease. I had lost already two to kidney failure so I know how hard it is figure out what to do. Attached are both the before and after lab reports.Old review:Scared to give it to my dog as the jar was not sealed and the plastic strip had been broken. Since there is no return or refund I will have to simply throw it out and look for an alternative product to purchase. Was very hopeful to try it but who knows why it was opened.

I was hesitant on this purchase because some reviews leaned in the direction of , "My Dog didn't like it." Well, I am glad to say, my girl liked it. On the other hand my other dog wouldn't touch her bowl when I tested to see if she would eat it mixed in. This dog eats anything but she sniffed her bowl and walked away. Good thing the Kidney Support Supplement was not purchased for her. I purchased a second tub and when complete, I will take my girl into the Vet to see if her kidney numbers improved. That will be the real test of Dr. Harvey's Kidney Health Kidney Support Supplement. I will update this post with the results. I hope it works.

I am thrilled to have discovered Dr Harvey's! When my beloved Catahoula, Clarke, had elevated kidney enzymes show in his last old man routine blood work, I immediately started researching how to help prevent further increases. I own and operate a pet care company and I knew that prescription food was never going to be an option for any of my kids! view animal prescription diets in the same way I view many human pharmaceuticals where your veterinarian gets a commission from the product and therefore encourages usage when the reality is that most of those foods create a variety of secondary issues from all of the crap that is in them. Read a label sometime and you will be shocked at the bounty of ingredients that you can't even begin to pronounce. I have always found that for any dietary need you can find an alternative to a prescription diet that is far more healthy for your fur babes. Clarke's enzymes were elevated but he had not crossed the line into kidney disease, knock on wood. I came across this supplement by Dr Harvey's and based on the ingredients and amazing reviews I decided it was the one for my boy. He is on his 4th container now and although I haven't done any repeat blood work, his water intake has drastically reduced, which is an awesome and telling sign! The micro-powdered supplement gets added to his food twice daily (I also changed his feeding guidelines to be more kidney friendly) and from the moment I opened the 1st canister I was impressed by the consistency and the delicious smell! I have used Eastern medicine for years and this supplement reminds me very much one of those tried & true food, three thousand-year-old specialty blends. One container lasts us about 15 days, which may seem costly, but Clarke is more than worth it and I can actually SEE the results! I would wholeheartedly recommend the supplement to anybody who needs a little extra protection for their dogs kidneys!! Dr Harvey's seems to have their head and her heart in the right place and based on my positive experiences I have also started feeding Clarke and his brother their Canine Health dehydrated food base, which looks absolutely amazing but that is for another review! Lastly, you will notice that in my review I never use the word "pet". I'm not a huge fan of the concept of us "owning" animals and I noticed immediately that Dr. Harvey's shares the same attitude. Not once in there literature did I read the word "pet". It might sound silly but it tells me that their approach to companion animal care is one that puts the animals first and that they believe in the relationships that we share with our animal friends. That is okay in my book! Thanks for the great products, Doctor Harvey's! I look forward to trying some of your other blends at some point!
