Better than an inline UV if you have a box or barrel filter.
My old traditional inline UV light kept burning out and after a while the lamps would not connect due to corrosion. I was skeptical this would work but after about 1 week in my upflow pad filter the water cleared from dark and green to see through. No extra pipe work or fittings to maintain. Works simply and efficiently. It could be placed in a skimmer box but I would shield it from the fish.

Eureka! This thing really works! (even after 8 months)
In Sedona AZ, we put the extra long UV light in our newly constructed 1800 gallon, river rock lined 10’ by 12’ pond, 4’ deep, with 3’ high, 8’ long waterfall in late summer 2024. We ended up with an overgrowth of algae that clouded the water opaque green.Algaecide alone wasn’t fixing it. We purchased this UV light in late September, placing it inside our skimmer tank to fully submerge it in a way that did not obstruct the skimmer door or filter mesh, and connecting it to a timer to run whenever the pump ran, which is about 18 hours a day.Using the UV light in this way meant that most pond return water entering the skimmer tank was exposed to the UV light many times per day.Within 3 days, we began to see results, with clarity within the first few top inches of the pond. By 4-5 weeks, the pond was virtually clear once again, and we could see the bottom. And the hibernating goldfish.☺️This light really works! Recommended!8 month follow-up: This UV light still works great and does the job. It lives in our pond skimmer and I have it set to run 3 hours on three hours off, daisy chained to our pond pump, which runs daily from 7pm to 12noon for power rate purposes. Keeps the algae well at bay. Still going strong and highly recommended.

worst quality and failure rate! 1 out of 5 works
I would give zero stars if I could. Originally I ordered 2 lamps, now I'm on my failed 3rd replacement on the second lamp. One of the original lamp still works after 3 weeks, however the 2nd lamp had 3 failed replacements, last night the 3rd replacement arrived and I installed it into my large koi pond, by this morning the lamp has failed, Yes I checked the power outlet. the 2nd replacement was dead on arrival. Better look for another manufacturer! Good Luck

Using light for my Softub spa & it works wonderfully!
Purchased for my Softub spa. I previously had a Sundance spa which comes with a UV light as a sanitizer but the Softub doesn't. This light has been a huge improvement. I previously had to use chlorine too often with the Softub but now only use it a couple times a week & only 1/2 the amount. The light came with suction cups to mount it so it stays put. I put a timer on it for 2 hours a day while the filter is in circulating mode & that seems good to keep the water clean. I hope the light holds up over time! It's a cost effective way to improve water quality.

UV light
Product worked very well for 7 months, then it burned out and died. Unfortunately it did not make it the full year. I have a 800 gal pond that was clean the 7 months though

no more worries
I have fought cloudy , nasty , algae water in my koi pond for over 2 years now, enough to buy this 55 watt light 10 times over, in 2 weeks my pond has become the clearest it has ever been. since I put in this uv light. I have a 10,000 gallon pond 4 feet deep. I sunk a 55 gallon drum just enough to have it over flow into the pond with just this light so no movement to possibly break the glass. the only drawback is it is very fragile. I have 26 koi about 18 inches long all are doing so good with the uv light killing the bacteria, I dont plan on ever being without this light again. the light is a lot cheaper than the barley junk that never worked to my expectations. this light has taken away my pond woes!
