This is NOT a protein shake
This product is not a protein shake. It’s also not a pumpkin flavored topping. I think the manufacturer missed some branding and it has led to some confusion of what this product is. So I figure I’d start with that. What is it?- mostly neutral/unflavored protein powder made primarily from pumpkin seeds. What can I use this for?- I add it to our pancake mix. 3 cups of flour to 2 servings of this. It doesn’t leave much flavor to be discernible - my young children happily eat the pancakes, as do I.- add it to cakes or other baking goods- mix a little with a strong flavored protein shake. I’ve mixed it with chocolate and orange cream shakes. 1:1 and though it adds thickness and maybe a bit of grittiness the other flavors easily overpower this and they taste fine - now with an extra 18g of protein)What you should NOT do with it:- mix it with water to drink as a protein shake. I mean you can do this (I tried out of curiosity) and while you can drink it, it’s not a pleasant experience.Overall I recommend this product, in particular if you’re going to use it to increase the protein content of baked goods, and highly recommended in pancakes for the family.4 stars.

The size of a serving was a big surprise!
Although I definitely did not dislike this product, it’s not very practical to use as a source of protein. I didn’t realize that a serving, 1 ounce, or 28 g, is half a cup of a flour-like powder. As you can imagine, adding half a cup of flour to a bowl of soup or a serving of greek yogurt is not very appetizing… It thickens them into paste.I found it acceptable to add 1 tablespoon to a bowl of soup or a dish of yogurt, but such a small amount adds less than 3 additional grams of protein. It does work well in oatmeal, a tablespoon to a bowl, and oatmeal also mproves the quality of the pumpkin protein, since oatmeal has the two amino acids that pumpkin powder is low in. And since I’ve paid for a 2 pound bag of this protein source, I plan to experiment with substituting it for part of the flour in pancake or maybe muffin recipes. Of course that will not add very much protein to each individual pancake, but it will use up the bag I purchased. I wish the seller would have made it clear that you had to use a lot of powder to get the 17 g of protein!

Can be used for almost anything!
Pumpkin protein powder might sound odd if you've never heard of it before, but this is an amazing protein powder. The first time I tasted it, it took me a second to figure out what it tasted like. Then it dawned on me: it tastes like pumpkin seeds! Not the salted and roasted variety, but more of a plain type. The flavor is fairly noticeable if you are using only the powder and liquid to make a protein shake. I wouldn't say it's bad at all. It blends well and has a decent texture. The taste by itself just left something to be desired in my opinion. Most unflavored protein powders are great options due to their versatility and this is no exception. I used it in many different dishes, and it worked well in all of them. I think I liked to use it best in baking. Its light texture made it a good substitute for flour. It helped to make a delicious single-serve cake packed with extra nutrients. The pumpkin protein powder didn't thicken dishes as much as some other protein powders, like if it was mixed with a cereal grain. This didn't bother me much though, since it just meant that I used a little less liquid. The slight flavor could also be used to add a little extra flavor to things like oatmeal. The protein powder's flavor isn't obnoxious, but it changed up the normal flavor profile of the oatmeal a bit in a way that I appreciated.I have to say that I really enjoyed using this pumpkin protein powder. It has lots of protein and iron and was low in sodium, all things that I usually look for in protein powders. If you are really against the pumpkin seed type flavor, it might not be for you. However, I found myself tossing a scoop in just about anything when I wanted some extra protein (there's no scoop included in the bag, but I found that 1/4 cup was fairly close to a serving size and I ended up using a scoop from another container of protein powder I had recently finished).

Great source of protein
This organic pumpkin powder is a great source of protein. I add it to my Greek yogurt every morning and it adds 8 1/2 g of protein for my day. It says 1 oz. equals 17 g of protein, which equals to 2 tablespoons. I only add 1 tablespoon to my yogurt, so I'm getting half that. For the most part, it is tasteless. There is a very slight flavor to it, that I can't describe but it's not bad. I actually wish it tasted like pumpkin, as I love the taste of anything pumpkin. It's made in the U.S., which I love. They say it is additive free and all natural. I'm really hoping they're being honest and there are no fillers added. I have an extremely sensitive liver, which goes haywire if there are fillers in my supplements. So far, so good and no problems with my liver. I love the bag it comes in. It is durable and sturdy, and the zip enclosure works the way it's supposed to. This is so much better than the cheap paper bags that some flours and protein powders come in. Overall, I feel like I'm helping my body out by adding this to my breakfast yogurt.

Plant-based Protein!
I am so happy I gave this pumpkin protein powder a chance. It is a huge upgrade from the whey-based protein I use in my morning smoothies. It blends well, has no distinct flavor or artificial taste, and I can use it in baked goods too. This is a high-quality, single-ingredient protein powder with 17 grams of protein per ounce.
