Great for charging Tesla’s
Fixed my over heating issues. The standard 14-50 outlet was not working well with my Tesla anymore. These heavy duty ones are double the size and build better.

This 14-50 outlet will save your life and house
When I installed our previous 14-50 outlet to charge our Rivian R1S, this one didn't exist. As soon as I watched Tom Molougney's State of Charge channel on this adapter, I bought one. As soon as I removed the lightweight one, I discovered that it had already begun to burn. I was very lucky because it could have been much worse a few more charges. I removed the old one, cut off the burnt ends and reterminated it and also cleaned the plug with a wire brush. I reinstalled everything with the new beefier one and torqued it to 75 in-lb and everything now works great. This one looks much more heavy duty than the damaged one. I'd highly recommend you replace your NEMA 14-50 adapter with this if you are using it for EV charging. Spending a little more is much better than having a burned home with your valuables. I'm glad Leviton came out with this EV specific 240V outlet for charging.

Very good, comparable if not better than other "EV Grade" outlets
The description does not lie, this is definitely a much more well engineered outlet compared to your regular every day one, the connection lugs seem to be much more robust there's a lot more plastic that gives it a more firm and rugged feel.Just make sure you get the matching face plate for the outlet as its a bit bigger than your standard one, or if your using one of those RV style outlet housings be prepared to modify the plate so it fits.Overall though the build quality suggests this thing will last a long time before anything starts failing, so hopefully I don't have to update this review saying something went wrong.

Excellent Quality Plug
Excellent quality plug. I make sure to use Romex 6/3 cable. I love the Allen key screws that allow you to tighten them very well. When you put the wire in and tighten them up, make sure to wiggle the wires around really good and then retighten them up more. I made sure to do this over and over again to ensure the cables would not loosen up and cause a hazard when they heat up while charging. Will be utilized very frequently between charging my 3 EVs.

If your plug is getting hot when you charge your EV, this is the plug you need
My charger has a temperature sensor in the plug and was giving me warnings that it had reduced the charge current because the plug was getting hot. I checked it and it was in fact getting quite hot. Scary! After some research I found that not all NEMA 14-50 plugs are the same!! The one that was originally installed cost around $15. I replaced it with this one which is rated for continuous duty (it has a green EV logo on it). It cost 4 times as much as the cheap one, but now I can run the charger at 40 amps with no problem at all. Well worth the money.

Works well to power my 240V 40A car charger.
Why did you pick this product vs others?:With this type of purchase, it's either going to work or not work. This was installed a part of a new 50A circuit from my breaker panel. It was installed by an electrician, so I can speak to how hard or easy that was compared to other similar plugs. But my electrician urged me to get a name brand outlet so I got this Leviton. And I have had this for over 6 months now and it has worked flawlessly the entire time. Everything around the plug gets a little warm, but that's expected with all that current in use.
