ELOS AQUA TEST KIT- MAGNESIUMMagnesium (Mg) is present in a high quantity (1300-1350 ppm) in natural seawater. Contrary to its not only quantitative significance, this element was ignored as an important parameter of the marine aquarium for a long time. We know today that Magnesium creates a remarkable improvement in the growth of calcareous algae and also has a positive influence on the growth of invertebrates and macro algae. The ideal value of Magnesium in the aquarium is: 1100-1300 mg/Lt for the marine aquarium. Because of the importance of Magnesium, it is necessary to keep the proper level by testing it with an accurate test kit. ELOS AquaTest Mg, as well as all titrimetric test kits of this line, grant very high precision thanks to several procedures like the use of calibrated droppers with constant and predefined drops of 0.03 ml each, the validation of our reagents, through NIST (National Institute of Standard and Technology) validation and the careful stock management to supply to our customers ONLY the freshest production batch. HIGHLIGHTS: High quality system: one powder reagent and two liquids! Standard sensibility: 100 ppm of Magnesium ions. NIST validation: each batch of reagents is validated using NIST (National Institute of Standard and Technology) samples "C" reagent available as separate sales unit High number of test per kit: up to 50 test (with a standard Mg level of 1100 ppm) "Safe reagents": reagents and testing procedures are based on Low Risk Reagents. None of our test kits are based on Toxic Reagents.

I've tried several Magnesium test kits and this one is my favorite. The thing to note is that it is a two part test. But even considering that I still find this kit the easiest to use. Follow the instructions- not on the little cheat card you get- but the long form instructions that comes in multiple languages. Then you'll be all set.

Easier to use them Seachem
Good product, easier to use them Seachem. I undersatnd that some hobbysist prefer the Salifert Mag kit. Instructions on this kit could be better. They print them in 20 languages, they should try being more explicit with the instructions. I would recommend, but will probably try Salifert next. Wasn't not really wowed by it.

I you own a salt water you will need this test kit.
It is important to test mag for your coral. Ours runs a little low so it is crucial. Our slat water is doing well and we dreamed of having a salt water aquarium for 20 yrs before we finally took the plunge.

Good test Kit but the Instructions suck
It's Elos, one of the best and most expensive on the market so you know the results will be good and they are!Whats terrible is the instructions, I ended up waisting half a bottle of part B because I did not notice the little notation to refill the vile a second time. If you hate reading instructions, watch out becuase this kit is not intuitive to use and the instructions are a poor italian translation.I give it four stars just based on bad Instructions and complication of doing the test, the rest of the kit including accuracy is 5 stars

Good test kit, lousy instructions
This is a very good test kit, cheaper than the Sailfert test kit. The only thing I didn't like was the instruction sheet. The printing is very small and very hard for people with vision issues. Also you need to read and reread each step. Once I figured out what I had to do it was okay. In small print it also said to keep the kit in a cold, dark place, if they would have said to keep it in the refrigerator would have been simpler. It is an okay kit with a crummy instruction sheet.

Pablo Lee's death by Sodium Hydroxide
If you create a YouTube instructional video charging one buck per watch you'll be rich! The instructions were written in English then converted to Chinese which was then translated to Spanish by Pablo Lee. Pablo was tired of his native language so he moved to the US, paid for by Elos, to translate the three page mini-manuscript back to English. Mr Lee was swiftly fired for his poor chicken scratch instructions. Progress with the Mg kit were halted. The remaining unshipped contents were consumed by Mr. Lee--he now free.
