Excellent addition to the game. Many more scenarios and they added some flavor as well to keep it exciting.

Great new addition to the base game

The Sky Team Turbulence expansion is a small envelope of additional content to add to your base copy of Sky Team. If you are not already familiar with Sky Team, it is an amazing 2 player coop game that simulates landing a plane on a runway. The base game itself has various modes of play from easy to difficult and for many will be good enough without this added content. That said, this expansion is for those who live and breathe Sky Team and get enough. The means of communication in Sky Team is limited in a clever way so no one player can take over everything and ruin the experience, which is a shortfall of many games of this basic genre. Instead, you and your partner are equals and relied upon to be competent with what you are doing as you work towards landing your plane safely. With this expansion, it is basically just more content but what they have done in this small expansion is very well thought out and worth exploring. There are new runways, new scenarios and a new punch board. Heck, there are even penguins now. Landing the plane can be even more of a challenge for you and your teammate as there could be turbulence , low visibility or alarms to contend with, all of which making for a fairly realistic and enriched experience. Please note, the envelope the components comes in is just paper and easily torn or damaged. Mine was a bit ripped, straight out of the box, but it didn't bother me too much. I just added the new stuff into the base box and didn't think that it was worth dinging a star considering the quality of the content and the fair price point of this expansion. 5/5

Our household has fallen in love with the Sky Team base game, so adding the expansion was a no-brainer for us. Though it comes in a paper envelope that didn’t travel well during shipping, we just added the contents into the original base game box anyway, so this wasn’t a huge issue for us. I would definitely recommend playing through at least a good bit of the base game first, because the expansion adds some challenges to the gameplay (alarm, penguins, faster descent, turbulence, and diminished visibility, to name a few). There are 20 new runways, as well. Everything is the same great quality as the base game, and we’ve played through about half of the expansion at this point and have thoroughly enjoyed the additional scenarios. I highly recommend this for the gamers out there who already really love the base game.

I wouldn't necessarily call this expansion essential but it does provide both more of of the same (more scenarios) and modules that increase the difficulty. There's a bunch of modules that throw new wrenches unto your plans like stopping all communication, breaking random actions until fixed, making you reroll your dice after every action, only rolling 2 dice at a time. Then there are the new scenarios which give you new challenges and add more variety if you've already played the base game a ton. And then there's the penguin meepos (which are really just planes). I say for the price it's worth it if you've completed all scenarios and want new challenges.
