Works great!
I was surprised how sturdy the item is. I thought it was a little expensive for an ice cube tray, but it works for me as my hand strength is not very good so it is hard for me to twist the plastic trays to release the cubes. love the little hammer and tongs that come with the metal ice cube tray. Works great!

Perfect alternative for making ice!
I recently bought a new refrigerator that does not have an ice maker. I wanted ice cube trays that are not plastic so I found these that are made from high quality stainless steel. They are easy to use and perfect for my needs.

Going back to metal
Great quality. Works well. It may be a lost cause, but trying to reduce microplastic intake so went with metal tray instead of a cheapy plastic one. 1 tray full is enough for my 40 oz Stanley stainless drinking mug.

I should have listened to my mom.
I was determined to replace my plastic ice cube trays with a metal one that wouldn't break like they do. And it didn't. It broke in a way that only a metal tray can with the lever bending out of shape while trying and failing to break up the cubes on just my third attempt at using it. My grandparents had the metal trays so I thought this would be perfect, but my grandparents' trays only had 2 lines so I think the cubes just broke up easier in that. With the three lines this one has, all the middle one did is jam up the works. I tried running hot water over the top and bottom to loosen the ice and I used the nifty little hammer that was included, but I never got the cubes to successfully come out intact. My mom said the metal ones weren't worth the hassle and, in this case, I agree. I'm still going to get in her attic, though, to see if I can get the ones I remember from the grandparents.

Not the same as the ones that were made when I was growing up.
I'm glad that is stainless steel but it is not like the ones that we had when I was growing up. It's hard to get the ice cubes out but if you wet the bottom part and leave the tray on the counter for a few minutes it's easier to get out the cubes in whole pieces.

How to Get Perfect Cubes
Perfect ice cubes if you put the tray in the refrigerator for an hour before removing.

The classic tray is practical and long lasting.
I really like the fact that this tray is metal. I don't have to worry about BPA or any particles of plastic in my ice and the cubes are much bigger than the electric ice maker cubes that go on kitchen counter. You need less of these classics in your drinks. You may need a few minutes to get the cubes out of the tray when you pull up the lever but its nice to have the hammer/pick to get them out also as well as separate any cubes you've collected. Tongs are also practical. These could be stacked and don't take up space.
