I bought a lighter bar diameter 10mm. However, a tube of 30mm diameter and wall thickness of 1.5 mm will probably function OK as a pull up bar for somebody of say 75Kg. bodyweight. End caps will be available from somewhere, maybe not the same supplier. Try Austin Knappmann ( not sure of the spelling on that ) they offer a range of accessories.

I'm not an expert on this, but I would suggest somewhere between 15mm and 20mm.

Q: Can this be used to hang clothes on with correct wall brackets?

I think it would be strong enough to use as a clothes rail but you should bear in mind that it is untreated steel and will gradually develop a thin coating of rust from moisture in the air. You could paint it and that would prevent it from rusting. I have used a similar product and found a plastic tube that fitted over the steel tube. It's not that easy to find a tube that fits perfectly.
