Perfect replacement and fit on my `88Classic Fifty Mercury
Preliminarily it's perfect, physically identical to original and turned over motor on first attempt.My 30 year old starter failed, and I was able to replace with this unit in less than 15 minutes (while still in the water.)I strongly suggest replacing the solenoid at the same time!

Worked great. The only thing that may be an issue for other customers is the mounting posts are opposite each other, where the original posts were 45 degrees from each other.

For the price, you can't beat it... First one I got was defective and I called DB Electrical, and they shipped me another within a couple days. Spotty quality control, but excellent customer service...

You'd need an engineering degree to make that compatible with the oem starter.
This product said it's oem replacement for mercury outboard starter number 50-44369.Either wrong part was sent or info is incorrect . 50-44369 has 10 teeth the one sent has 9 and much much smaller . I have a picture for comparison.
