Fantastic. All the hits that you want. Love this band. Best Scottish band. Recommend.

This 2 disc set is a delight. Disc 1 covers the sixties and even has 4 tracks from Dean Ford and the Gaylords. We then have hits like " Lovin` Things ," " Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da,"Baby Make It Soon " and of course " Reflections Of My Life." Disc 2 covers the seventies with " Rainbow," " Cousin Norman " and " Radancer." There is also the added bonus of Junior Campbell`s " Hallelujah Freedom" and "Sweet Illusion." In all there are 46 tracks. Beware of some compilations which use inferior re-recordings.Get this one.

An excellent anthology of this band that should of gone on to greater things. All the hits are here from the late sixties of lovin things,Marianne,to rainbow and reflections of the seventies some of the later stuff although obscure sounds vey polished as an added bonus you get the solo hits from junior cambell well worth the silly price of this double package.

There are lots of compilations out there of "Marmalade Greatest Hits" but a lot them are re-records of the songs & hits with some original members of the band. Usual cut price stuff.BUT.........This one is the real deal......... and it's cut price, or at least it was when I bought it.All songs are the original versions. They may in some cases be 'remastered' but the original sound and original vocals are still there. Plus there is a lot more than just Marmalade tracks included. Some early Dean and The Gaylords and also Junior Campbell solo tracks make this excellent value all round.If you want the full Marmalade experience - you need this Anthology. Buy, Buy, Buy!!

I have many Marmalade compilations but this is the best. It was interesting to hear Dean Ford & the Gaylords and while they sound dated it is good to hear them. All their instantly recognisable songs are here from both the CBS & Decca years. An added bonus are the two Junior Campbell hits and their last hit : Falling apart at the seams. The only missing song is their old EMI single "Our house is rockin". Nevertheless this is a must for all Marmalade fans.

Very nice compilation of the 1960's & 1970's....Each decade on a different CD....Songs I didn't know they even had like Stay With Me...Smooth harmonies of Dean , Junior and Graham....The songs that did not include Dean as the lead singer such as Sarah, Falling Apart at the Seams, and two songs from Junior Campbell, etc, I guess I'm just prejudiced, Marmalade isn't Marmalade without Dean Ford's fabulous lead vocals....but a great overall purchase

何だかイイことばかり書かないと参考にならない票を付けられるようで面倒くさい世の中なので、イイことばかりに書きかえよう。面倒くさいが、マーマレードは嫌いではない。２枚組で１枚めが６０年代、２枚めが７０年代。１枚めには最初に４曲、前身バンドのDEAN FORD & THE GAYLORDSの曲を収録。これはのんきなブリティッシュ・ビートでwimple winchのブリティッシュ・ビート時代と共通。きわめて似ているのんきさ。売れたブリティッシュ・ビートはもっとポップポップしていたと思うが、これが後発組のねらい筋だったのだろうか？　意外にこちらの方があまり聴いたことがない感じで、今聴いて面白い気はする。以降のマーマレイドはバンド・ポップスである。キャッチーなメロディがあって、きわめて聴きやすい。小奇麗にきわめてすっきりまとめてある感じである。「オブラディ・オブラダ」で全英１位だが、これはマーマレード曲のなかでは浮き気味。２枚めはフォーク・ロック路線に転換。時代は変わる。いつまでもビートルズが中心ではない。マーマレードのフォーク・ロックは、これまたきわめてメロディアスで、日本のフォーク曲にも通ずるものがある。同じくメロディアスなフォーク・ロックということではマイティ・ベイビーの「ジャグ・オブ・ラブ」を思い出した。DISC ONEの9.I See The Rainはジミヘンが気に入っていたという。ナゲッツ２にも取られている。

The Marmalade; eine Gruppe, die wohl mittlerweile beim Großteil der Bevölkerung in Vergessenheit geraten ist. Scheinbar hat sie nie den Erfolg gehabt, um sich die heutige Zeit zu retten. Um vorweg zu sagen: The Marmalade ist meiner Meinung nach eine der größten Bands der damaligen Zeit (zu der ich noch nicht geboren war) :) . Mit dieser Anthology gibt es nun die Möglichkeit diese grandiose Band kennen zu lernen.Die Doppel-CD ist in 60er und 70er eingeteilt, was man deutlich hört, denn die 70er waren wohl ihre Hauptzeit. Beim Reinlegen der CD 1 bleibt daher bei den ersten Liedern das Gänsehautgefühl aus; zu simpel und mainstream-like wirken die Musikstücke. Meiner Meinung nach ist das (leider) erfolgreiche "Twenty Miles" nicht mal ansatzweise ein Repräsentat für die Musikqualität, die Marmalade noch beweisen wird. Die ersten 5 Lieder von CD 1 sind demnach leicht zu überspringen: Es handelt sich um Frühwerke, die den Stil der Band nicht aufgzeigen können; zu dieser Zeit hatte sich die Band noch nicht den Namen "The Marmalade" sondern "Dean Ford & The Gaylords" gegeben. "It`s all leading up to Saturday Night" zeigt erstmals melodische Züge, die vortan die Musik bestimmen und ein wahres Markenzeichen von "The Marmalade" werden. Man beginnt sich zurückzulehnen und fängt an zu schwärmen. Als nächster Hit wäre "Man in a shop" zu nennen, indem erstmals ein großes Geigenaufgebot genutzt wird. Man hat auf der gesamten CD 1 das Gefühl, dass "The Marmalade" ihre eigene Musik noch finden müssen, und so erproben sie die verschiedenen Musikrichtungen des Rock/Pop, weshalb auch einige Lieder nicht so gut sind. Der erste wirkliche Hit erscheint dann doch und bezeichnet die Gründung ihrer Musik: "Lovin`things". Erstmals stellt sich das oben erwähnte Gänsehautgefühl ein und man will einfach nur noch mitsingen, wenn sich die Geigen und Trompeten erheben, um den Hörer mit wunderschönen Melodien zu verzaubern. "Wait for me, Mary-Anne" schließt sich hervorragend an diesen Titel an und lässt das Musikerherz noch höher schlagen. Leider fügen sich dann wieder Titel an , die nicht weiter erwähnenswert sind: "Mess around" und "Hey Joe". Doch es folgen dann glücklicherweise wunderbare Hits, die seinesgleichen suchen: Chains, Mr. Lion, Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da, Baby make it soon, Butterfly sowie das herausragende Reflections of my life. Mit diesem Titel haben "The Marmalade" ihre Musikrichtung gefunden, indem die erstmal tiefsinnige Texte mit hervorragend komponierten Melodien verbinden. Auf der zweiten CD geht es in IHREM Stil weiter, so dass es kaum noch Ausfälle gibt. Da es sich durchweg um gute Hits handelt möchte ich nur einige erwähnen, die den Kauf dieser Doppel-CD rechtfertigen: I`ll be home (in a day or so), Kaleidoscope, Fight say the mighty, Radancer, Hallelujah freedom und der beste Hit der Band "Some other guy" sind musikalische Meilensteilen, die leider nie wirklich bekannt worden sind. Diese Songs übertreffen alles, was die meiner Meinung nach relativ schwachen Bands wie die "Rolling Stones" und die "Beatles" an Musik hergestellt. "The Marmalade" setzt erstmals viele Instrumente ein, so dass die Lieder satter und emotionaler als nahezu alle anderen Musiktitel aus dieser Zeit wirken. Endlich gibt es auf dieser Doppel-CD anspruchsvolle Musik mit Gänsehautgarantie, die einen fesselt und nicht mehr loslässt. The Marmalade zeigt, dass sie wahre Meister der Kompositionen sind. Da verzeiht man auch gerne die Anfangsschwierigkeiten von CD 1.Fazit: Diese Doppel-CD ist einfach genial. Man wird mit satten musikalischen und melodischen Stücken verzaubert, die sich wohltuend vom Standardpopgeplänkel abheben. Legen sie die CDs ein und lassen sie sich verzaubern: Lehnen sie sich zurück und genießen sich endlich mal wieder Musik, wie sie Spaß macht und berührt!!! The Marmalade verdienen sich mit ihrer Mühe 5 Sterne und zeigen, wie Musik zu klingen hat.

Marmalade is my favourite band from the 1960’s. my favourite songs on this CD included “Reflections Of My Life”, “It’s All Leading Up to Saturday Night”, “Is Your Life Your Own”, “Baby Make It Soon”, “Wait For Me Mary- Anne” and “Time Is On My Side”, not to be confused with the Rolling Stones song of the same name. this CD brought me hours of enjoyment and every song is great. Marmalade were as good as Gary Puckett and the Union Gap with their brass band and they sounded like Love Affair. If you enjoy the music of Tony Christie, Love Affair and Gary Puckett, I highly recommend Marmalade. This Marmalade is really taistey.

46 Songs auf 2 CDs, ursprünglich veröffentlicht zwischen 1964 und 1976 - und alles Originalversionen, angefangen bei Marmalades Vorgängerband Dean Ford & The Gaylords (4 Titel), dann natürlich von The Marmalade selbst (40) und ihrem Gründer und Hauptsongschreiber Junior Campbell (2).The Marmalade waren gut, und viele ihrer Songs sollten eigentlich als Klassiker der Popgeschichte verehrt werden ("It's All Leading Up to Saturday Night", "Wait for Me Mary-Anne", "Mr. Lion", "Baby Make It Soon", "Butterfly", das herrlich sanft dahinfließende "Rainbow", "The Ballad of Cherry Flavor", "I'll Be Home (in a Day or So)", "Kaleidoscope", "Dear John", "My Little One", "Sarah", "Lady of Catrine", "Empty Bottles", "She Wrote Me a Letter", "Just One Woman").Die einzigen Titel, an die man sich heute noch von ihnen erinnert, sind letztlich aber ihre Version des furchtbaren Beatles-Bubblegum-Schlagers "Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da" (Dezember '68), ihr eigenes, unsterbliches "Reflections of My Life" (November '69) und vielleicht ihre mittelmäßigen, aber eingängigen 70er-Jahre-Nummern "Cousin Norman" (August '71), "Radancer" (März '72) sowie ihr letzter Hit "Falling Apart at the Seams" (Februar '76).The Marmelade sind jedenfalls eine Wiederentdeckung wert!
