Low quality, only two cutters on the countersink
I bought this because it was inexpensive and had good reviews. I was looking for an additional set for the woodshop to supplement my Lee Valley set that cost three times as much. Big mistake. The cutters on the counter sink have only two flutes instead of four. They will work OK in pine or plywood, but in hardwood they chatter and cut an elongated hole (see photo). The first time I used it in oak it cut so slow and chattered that I thought I had the drill in reverse by mistake. If you’re a weekend warrior or woodworking hobbyist and only have to countersink holes occasionally, it would probably work fine. If you’re a commercial user like me and your tools get a lot of use, you’ll need to spend more for something higher quality. I gave this set away and ordered another set from Lee valley.

I have never paid this much for countersinks before, but I'd buy these again without hesitation.
They're a little pricey but it's definitely a case of getting what you pay for, and maybe a little more compared to cheaper products that break and don't perform well. These feel quite hefty in your hand, they're sharp and the bits actually fit the countersink sleeves! I mention this because many of the bits on others I have owned are noticeably small for the sleeve hole and therefore are never properly centered and make poorly sized and shaped holes.I really like the substantial size and clean machining of the set screw system. They're easy to loosen and they tighten back up easily after you adjust drill depth, and then they stay where you put them no matter how many holes you drill, whether it's in softwood or hardwood. This design uses two chamfered flutes, so I get the best results when I keep my drill speed on the high side and take my time completing the cut. (That last bit of advice applies to most of what I do with power tools - take my time and let the tool do the work.)And they're made in the USA to boot.If you're in the market for a set of countersinks, I recommend you spend a couple extra bucks and get these. The old saying is true that quality is the best value.

Very brittle drill bits
I have used these for a while now with very mixed results. The actual countersink heads are good and do a good job leaving clean holes. The drill bits however, are junk. I have already broken two of them (snapped in two) while trying to use them on pine of all things, with not much pressure. If the drill bit is not dead straight, these will snap instantly. I was upset by how easily these broke. I replaced them with cheap bits from the big box store and they work fine. Luckily the countersink heads hold common drill bits. So overall, they do a good job making countersinks but if your experience is like mine, plan on the bits breaking early and often. It is a shame because if they bits were better this would be a great product. Overall, I'm disappointed and I would NOT purchase these again.

Excellent product, American made!
Excellent product! American made quality! I highly recommend this product. I believe after using these on my hickory cabinets that prior negative reviews are from operator error. Hickory is a very, very hard wood to work with, and these bits worked awesome. Couple of tips for first time users of these bits, you need to make sure you are consistently drilling straight to avoid breaking bit. Also you need to pick the drill in and out of the hole to avoid loading up the bit with chips. If you do this they work great! After using them on hickory, any other wood will be a piece of cake!

Good bits, depth-stop not so great.
I'm happy with the bits, but the depth stop is marginal. It fits too loosely on the shank and it's impossible to get the nut tightened down without the depth stop ending up at an angle so that it's not coaxial with the drill bit. One of the problems is that unless you want a fairly deep counter-bore hole, the depth stop collar is only under one edge of the nut that holds it. When combined with the loose concentric fit and engagement between the depth-stop collar and the bit shank, it's clearly not designed to drill holes where you want your screw heads flush. If the collar on depth stop was about 1/4 inch longer, I think it would work a _lot_ better.

Collar accessory not very adjustable
These countersink bits are OK, like a lot of others, but I bought them because there is an optional collar to set the countersink depth. It works as long as you want to countersink the screws flush with the surface or a tiny bit recessed (maybe 1/16") but there is almost no adjustment room for the collar on the countersink. For example, if you want to countersink a little deeper to put in a plug - no can do using the collar. Too bad, because they could have made the collar a little narrower or, better yet, the countersink shaft a little longer and allowed for some depth adjustment. One more thing - they provide a hex key with the countersinks for the set screws, but none with the collar. That would be OK except, for no good reason, the collar has a different size set screw. Advice to Snappy: fire you design engineer and get someone with some sense.

The countersinks are good, but the depth stop is useless
I ordered this set so that I could use the depth stop, but for me the depth stop is useless because it cannot be set it to prevent all countersinking; the extreme setting is to countersink flush with the surface. Depth stops for hand drilling rarely work well; you can't reasonably have a separate clamp-on depth stop for every metric, imperial, and numbered drill bit, but clamp-on types are specific to the drill size. And set-screw types are unreliable and damage the drill bit. I thought this was the key; the drill bit is held in a hex holder and the depth stop clamps onto that, the same size for every drill. It would work perfectly except they blew it and assumed that you would always want to countersink at least 3/16". It is much more common to drill a hole whose depth you want to control but you are not countersinking, such as mounting hardware. Too bad! Opportunity missed. Don't buy this set, buy the regular set without the depth stop. Alsi too bad there is no metric set either!

Great value
These countersinks are easy to exchange with each other due to the hex fitting. Also, they cut a great countersink in the wood surface.

No sizes on the bits.
Would be nice if there was some sort of size reference of some sort on each bit. Once you take them.out of the package, its up to you to figure it out I guess.

Good Quality!
I have used the product several times and I am very pleased with it. Well made with readily available drill bits if they need replacing. I have bought several similar products over the years and this is the best one yet.
