This thing is a beast

Idc what anyone says, I love my 9600k. It does the job for me! Love this CPU. Great for gaming, speed is great for me, great quality and haven’t even changed from the stock cooling fan. It works great, always easy to install

Good price/power even if it's a little outdated

It performs very close to other 600k series like the I5 11600k and 12600k with a lower cost, perfect for an upgrade without updating the motherboard

For a Future Upgrade

This unit was purchased to go into a 9th generation LGA 1151 motherboard to upgrade a PC to Windows 11 Pro. It is still in the box until that motherboard is purchased. I consider it a good buy for that purpose considering they are getting harder to find.***Update: Installed this unit February 4, 2025, and tested it with the Intel Processor Diagnostics Tool. It passed all tests. However, it only listed a 1 Core, not the advertised 6 Cores.A call to the reseller was not helpful and he stated he could do nothing to remedy the discrepancy...His statement was "I'm just a reseller, I do not look at the number of cores, just the product number."No refund or exchange, just a $20.00 "Peace Offering" to make me go away. As they say, buyer beware. I ordered this unit in good faith only to be led astray by the description given on the Amazon site.

New rig set up and this is a beastly processor for pure gaming!

Coming from I5 6600k I wanted to start pushing more frames for my 240hz monitor and gtx 1080 at 1080p.This processor easily solved that problem. I got it for $235 on sale on amazon.I was debating between this and 2700x but after adding up the cost of pricey Motherboard and ram that the Ryzen needed vs just a good cooler for the Intel it was an easy decision.I compared my system vs my friends with a 2700x(Same graphic card). He has stable 4.3 OC and I am at 5.0 OC. I am averaging about 12-17% better frames. His ram and MB cost $270 more than my MB/Ram setup minus the $60 cooler I brought. So I saved $210 with better performance for gaming, which I can always put towards a better graphics card later.Note I do not stream, so if you stream I would recommend the 2700x or i7 8700k.Conclusion:Pure gamer = BuyWorkstation/Steaming/ect. = skip

Intel Core i5 does it again...

I have been building my own gaming pc's since 2011. In an effort to save a few $$, I opt to use the i5 vs the i7 and go for a higher end graphics card. While this may not be the optimal choice for most gamers, it has been a good working strategy for me.The gaming pc's I have built have been serviceable for as long as 5 years, with my last one retired utilizing an i5 3570K which my wife had been using when I upgraded my system in 2017 toan i5 7600K.Both of these sysytems rocked gaming for me, never a problem, glitch, slowing of frame rates etc. When the 3570K system started having some motherboard issues, I rebuilt a pc for my wife integrating the bulk of my 2017 i5 7600k build into it. She has a blazing fast pc and is quite content with it.Filling the void, I built my current system with the Core i5 9600K, using a 1TB NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen3x4 ssd as the main drive and a Samsung 1TB evo ssd for secondary. This is the fastest pc I have ever owned, with remarkably fast boot up and loading speads. The M.2 ssd makes boot time from the appearance of the bios screen to Windows between 4.2 seconds the fastest and 4.8 seconds being the slowest...remarkable.Gameplay is fantastic. I mostly play FPS & 3rd person shooters, and a few other type games like the Tomb Raider series. It may of course be my imagination, but evrything appears to be faster, more sharp and extremely fluid. I' sold on this cpu!I would definitely recommend it.Pros: Everything!Cons: None!

One of the best value Intel CPUs on the market today

First and foremost, I believe all the hate Intel has received from hardware reviewers over the past year is well received. 9th Gen and 10th Gen Intel CPUs are clearly recycled 8th gen CPUs with very minor features added and critical features removed (ie hyperthreading) but it still remains a excellent CPU for gaming and overclocking, and at $200 I was more than curious to see just how overclockable this chip was...and I wasn't disappointed. With the latest drivers, good RAM, a good CPU water cooler, and an MSI motherboard I was able to achieve a 5.1Ghz stable clock speed on all 6 cores with little effort. I have no doubt that with more expensive cooling the higher clock speeds that others claim is achievable but that was not my goal. My goal was 5Ghz on all cores with average cooling for less than $200.My final decision makers for choosing the Intel i5-9600K are: 1) Most of the games I play don't take advantage of hyperthreading. 2) Intel is super overclockable. 3) z390 chipset motherboards are pretty common and cheap.Bottom Line: $200 for for a 5Ghz x 6 core CPU is an amazing deal that I just couldn't pass up.
