Menik CB-102A 102W 510PCS Led Studio Flexible Llighting CRI95 3200-5600K Bi-Color LED Video Light for Video Shooting Portrait Photography Fill-in Light

This light worked perfectly during a day-long film shoot. It works great as an interview key light. The color rendition is spot on and it gets really bright! I shot it through a 1 stop diffusion and the fall-off was really beautiful. The diffusion included is worth it in a pinch, but really you should also get an off light diffusion. The whole package is really convenient and built well. I'll follow up after a few months of using it. The only complaint I have is that the metal pieces that let me put it on a stand are a little flimsy and hard to get in place quickly. Though once they are in place you can screw them down so I didn't worry about it falling apart on set. Just know it'll take a few minutes to set up.

These lights are bright, they have great color rendition and seem well built. I haven’t tried the battery. I’ve only been running them with AC power.I own two and I’m looking to order another one .The thing that isn’t great is the soft box it comes with . It’s basically a joke . Make sure you buy some defusion Gels to put in front of it.It also doesn’t come with a grid. I would really like to have a grid on these lights . Not sure if I could purchase it separately.

Burnt out power boxes? I love my meniks for my podcasts, shows and courses, but is anyone having issues w/ the power boxes burning out quickly??? I run them on the 10% power, only when I'm recording...but I've had three power complete burn out within 6 months.Does anyone know how to replace? Or if it would be a simple fuse replacement?

If you don't want to read the whole review, here's my conclusion: I would recommend spending just a few extra bucks and purchasing the Falcon Eyes RX-18TD. So, I bought this Menik about 6 months ago. I liked the light a lot, and used it at most shoots. The X-bracket was shoddy and hard to position, the connection between the power box and the light was poorly designed, and the provided cases/bags weren't great, but whatever. It was a cheap light that worked great, I could deal with it. One day at a shoot it wouldn't turn on, realized that the power cable near the connection had ripped apart. Menik credits me $20 for a local repair. My local repair tech says it's shot, the damage created a short which ruined all the wiring. Thinking the power box is OK, Menik sends me a new light mat, which takes a few weeks to arrive from China. Well, that doesn't work either. Even though communication across the globe was slow, they were very nice and accommodating, but I chalked it up as a loss and purchase the Falcon Eyes RX-18TD for about $50 more than what the Menik cost. Much better quality of parts, much better case, and similar or better output from the light. So I recommend just doing that first.

I like most everything about the light. It is very bright and the color temperature can be dialed in nicely. The fact that it is flexible has a number of plusses. I have found that if you bend it convexly that it will lessen the shadows in the scene. I love that it is so lightweight and portable. I did not but most definitely will purchase the louvered frame for the light. This will more than likely help the directionality of the unit. While one of its most pleasing aspects is the brightness, at the same time it is a bit of a curse. The light is dimmable but its lowest setting is a fair amount brighter than I prefer. All in all, I am very pleased and happy I made the purchase.

Pros: Really powerful and affordable light. I got this light to be a fill light, but it is so powerful, you can use it as a key light for some lower budget videos.Cons: It could use a better soft box. The one that comes with it is not good, and stand that is supposed to hold it together struggles to keep it in any other position except vertical.I am definitely going to give other products a chance, and I will keep my eyes open for some good soft boxes for this type of light.

You can put these guys anywhere! A lot of pieces but good quality and they work perfect for lighting our cakes.
