Exactly What I Needed
I bought these to use with snowboarding. I have broken my tailbone and sacrum and just can't go without padding. These fit perfectly. They are like stretchy biker shorts with pockets of foam. The foam is removable. I took it out the hip padding. I'm hoping to double up on the tailbone padding. The foam is only about 1/2 inch thick and seems to be a simple foam. I like that the padding goes higher than the tailbone to protect my sacrum as well. These fit easily under my snowboard pants. And they're comfortable too. I can easily move in them. I don't feel restricted at all.I bought a size small. I have a 27 in waist and 38 in hips. They fit perfectly, and probably with a bit of room to spare since they are stretchy.I bought a pair of Burton's Red protection pads but had to return them - they had loads of hip padding and hardly any tailbone coverage. Not to mention they wouldnt fit under my pants. Could not remove those pads either. And they were at least twice as much!I will update after they get some usage on the slopes.UPDATE 1.15.15I have now hit the mountain twice with these...Ouch, my poor bum. While these definitely helped (no breaks!), I think I could have used more padding personally. The padded locations were slightly bruised while the areas with gaps had the biggest bruises I've ever had...the kind where a lump forms - the hematoma bruise. If I had only fallen a few times it would have been better, but I pushed myself and made it worse. I think these shorts are perfect for the person who might fall a few times, but not for the one who will be falling all day on hard surfaces. My favorite part about these shorts is still that you can remove padding and how they fit! Now if only I could add a little more in a few spots!

Good Pads
These run small and are not sized like the other bumsavers. Get the next size up or be prepared to return. I have the other bumsavers in medium and the large size of these fit right. I am a fit guy and I didnt like how the other bumsavers hang out of my shorts. So I got these. With the correct size, they fit nice and are comfortable, like nice booty shorts. The padding is good, although a little thin. I have fallen in the street a few times and didnt get hurt. It might not be thick enough for a new skater or someone without natural cushion. More padding can be slid into the pockets if needed.

Great protection!
Comfortable to wear but the tailoring wasn’t very good.

100% worth it to protect your behind
$55 is a gazillion times cheaper than medical bills for a busted coccyx or chipped hip bone from falling while skating. They are similar to football or hockey pads. 100% worth it!Not overly bulky, but you’ll need slightly looser pants so they fit under them. I fell a couple times before owning these and I had a bruise on my @$$ for two weeks. After buying these, I’ve fallen several times and they are effective!

ZERO protection
I had the padded shorts on all day long as I wanted some protection from falling on my butt because I have been diagnosed with Parkinsonism+ and may fallI guess I was lucky (or rather very unlucky…) since I was “offered” immediate testing for the shorts. Yes, I fell down! And I immediately felt the pain right under the ‘protective’ padding. So much it hurt, I could not move and had to scream for my daughter to come over to find me and lift me. She promptly decided I needed the area to be iced. Great idea because this allowed me to feel the precise location of the pain: directly under one so-called ‘protective’ padding😩I wished someone had taken the time to write a real review pointing out that these paddingsoffer NO protection whatsoever.

Offers some protection, but ill-fitting
The padding is in all the wrong places. The pads shift around and away from the sides of the hip bone that need the most protection. All the padding ends up covering the soft parts, while the sides are exposed to impact. I fell once on the side while skateboarding and hurt myself.I suppose they do provide adequate protection for the tail bone. I have not had a chance to test that.I will also mention, although I am not holding it against this product, that it gets very very hot on the warm days. Another contributing factor to not wanting to use it.

Great fit - my wife loves them as hip slams hurt!
Excellent idea - great safety protection from triple 8. They aren’t cheap but they do work and my wife never skated w/o them.

Fits tight, get the larger fit for your size if you’re unsure
I am 160lbs 5’9” and got the small size which was way too tight. The medium was a good fit. I use this for skydiving to make the harness more comfortable, and it works great and fits discreetly under my shorts.

Bad fit + gaps between tailbone pads
These are supposedly “designed and tested by and for derby girls”, but they don’t fit or protect a woman’s body well at all:My tailbone was not covered by the back pads at all, because the gaps between the pads are huge. Vertical back pads as seen in the men’s version might have provided better tailbone protection. These are also a straight “unisex” (mens) cut, not curved like most women’s shorts or leggings are. This causes gaping at the waist for anyone with hips wider than their waist – and means the hip pads move around and are not close enough to my hip bones to protect them. The leg openings are tight despite the gaping waist, even though my thighs are not particularly big. The shorts can’t stretch much.Disappointed to return these, especially because there don’t seem to be many crash pad options really designed for women that are available in Europe.UPDATE: the Intermezzo figure skating crash shorts fit much better, have more protective padding, and are made in Spain.

Perfect
Comfortable and reassuring

Doesn't offer much protection
The padding looks thicker in the photo and the gaps between the foam padding are too large to offer much protection for the tailbone.

Well padded
Relatively comfortable while offering a good amount of protection.

Short avec trois bouts de mousse
La protection n'est pas à la hauteur du prix, et loin de celle évoquée par la photo du produit.
