The Leatherstocking Tales: A Library of America Boxed Set

This boxset is very picturesque. One could not ask for a better treatment of Cooper's works. It came well-packaged too!

If you are willing to adjust to beautiful language which are not short declarative sentences, you will enjoy these stories of a period of our country's early history. I have thoroughly enjoyed the chronicles of this early pioneer's life from the early colonies through movement west. Much insight into the times as they were written 200 yrs ago. And also the cultural and environmental conflicts which resonate today.Only suggestion is to read them chronologically in the protagonist's life and not in the order they were written. The last book in the collection is actually the first to be read but check out the introductory material for the correct sequence. Didn't spoil it for me that I went straight through Vol 1 and then 2.

These were a gift to my son and he said he loves them. They are really nice. He loves these stories.

Once upon a time I had these books and somehow, over the decades, they wandered off. What a delight to find the LIbrary of America set with all 5 books in one set. These are well made, sturdy books with bookmark ribbons and the subject is pure Cooper! If you love Leatherstocking, if you love James Fenimore Cooper, then DO get this set.

J. F. Cooper is one of my favorite authors. I've been reading him since I was a preteen. Grew up in the Mohawk valley. This set is terrific.

I don't know why they made these books with such small print

If you wish you could time travel, this is the series.

These books were written by the father of a relative of mine. I lost all my books in the flood of 2011 and wanted to replace the collection. The books that I lost were from my great grandfather. They can never be replaced of course.

This is a wonderful unabridged edition of James Fenimore Cooper's Leatherstocking Tales for the full 5 volume set starting from "The Deerslayer", "The Last of the Mohicans", "The Pathfinder", "The Pioneers" and "The Prarie" where this is the chronological list of events in the story.

Didn't know what to expect!? But was overwhelmed with the set of two books. Lovely to hold and handle. A beautiful read. Excellent. Couldn't be happier! Well done.
