TwinStar 90mm Cassegrain TelescopeThis telescope has a fantastic folding optical assembly that uses a combination of mirrors and lenses to pack an incredible 1200mm focal length in a compact 12.5 inch optical assembly. As a result, this telescope is ideal for both day and night viewing. Images in this telescope are shown right-side up. With a powerful magnification 155x when using the 9mmeyepiece, this telescope is great for bird watching or as a wildlife spotting scope. For backyard astronomy, the big magnification will give you jaw dropping views of the moon. With planets you can see the Rings of Saturn and the Moons of Jupiter and great views of Mars. In dark skies you can see distant nebulae and galaxies as well. The aluminum tripod is fully adjustable and allows even taller people to observe the stars without having to crouch down in an uncomfortable position. A handy accessory tray on the tripod makes it easy to keep track of extra eyepieces. With the altazimuth mounting, the telescope is designed for beginners and children. There is nothing to it. This is a true"point-and-shoot" telescope. The mount makes it simple to aim and move the telescope, you don't need to learn about complex Polar Alignment or stellar coordinates -- just aim the telescope at what you want to see and have a look.

Good telescope, not so good tripod, terrible finder scope.
The telescope seems well constructed however the finding scope has a very narrow field of view and comes out of alignment easily. The tripod has a bit of play in it, it’s difficult to start moving the telescope in the tripod and once you begin moving it, it is difficult to get it to stay put. It might work better after some WD40. Even when fully tightened there is still play in the tripod. The good news, once you’ve got the telescope pointed at what you are trying to view, tightened up, it looks great. As long as you don’t touch it.Personally I plan on replacing the tripod with a much sturdier one and I’d like to get a better finding scope possibly a reflex one.Still worth purchasing, just you will have headaches.

Worth buying
I purchased this telescope more for terrestrial viewing than stellar, so I've not had it out at night yet. The scope is surprisingly small for the focal length (about 12 inches long) which makes it easy to maneuver. It came with 9mm and 25mm eyepieces as well as a chart of moon craters and a lunar filter.Assembly was trivial and I was up and running in minutes. The scope has two locations for eyepieces, one at a 45 degree angle out of the rear (as pictured) and another spot on top. A rear switch allows for selection between these two options. Its light weight makes it easy to carry around and the simple rotational system doesn't mandate knowledge equatorial mounts. The only drawback is that, for terrestrial viewing, you can't point the scope below the horizon such as you might do to look down a hill. The tripod legs adjust independently so you can work around it, it's just less convenient. All in all, a fine product from what I've seen so far, and worth the spend.

Ok for looking at the moon, not much else
I bought this for the purpose of taking photos of the moon and the planets. As far as the moon, it is ok but it can't quite focus. It is much worse on planets like Mars. While trying to focus it goes from a long smear to a disjointed fuzzy ball. Not even close to being in focus. I

Good for first time astronomy freak
This type of telescope is perfect for beginners, the lenses configuration is optimal for sky and nature observation. Well built, good tripod and very sharp images. The focusing is a little tricky but once you get used its is easy to adjust.

Don't BuyThis !!!!!
Don't waste your money! Shame on Amazon for even offering this product!I purchased this in Dec as a Christmas present for a dear friend. No user manual provided. There is no user manual available. There is plenty of assembly required. It has never worked. Money down the drain.Don't believe me? Google the product. I wish I had.Sister Corby

Don't buy!
Looks great; worst item I've ever purchased on Amazon. I can see the moon better with a 20 dollar pair of binoculars I bought my 4 year old grandson. That's the truth!
