The stories are true... they are not functional. Thank goodness I watched MacGyver growing up.If you buy them, take them apart, dremile the inner cup so the yellow toggle can seat all the way down when pressed, and take the spring from an old pen and add it with the existing spring, and they work just fine.However, if you’re not mechanically inclined, this product will lot work out of the box. Fair warning.Two stars...

These are awful! No instructions are included. Tried 5/16 drill, which was too small. Next I tried 3/8 and too big, now my bucket is leaking. Next try I used 11/32 which worked. I filled it with water and nothing! I tried MacGyvering it like the other review stated. I had no junk pens with a spare spring so next I had to use one from a good pen... now I have a non working pen just so I can make the waterer work.... doesnt seem right to me. I am returning immediately. Again, it will not work coming out of the package. Buyer beware.

I liked this design for ease of removing the cups for cleaning, but they are mainly just a good idea and not functional. My chickens do peck at them, but get maybe a drop or two of water - definitely not enough. I'll try to make them work as another commenter suggested before I toss them - mainly because I hate the waste and probably can't recycle the plastic.

I put 3 of these on a 5 gallon bucket for my wifes 8 chickens, they do not let out enough water for them. The cups were constantly empty even with the chickens pecking at them. We returned them for the "non peck" style and they are working great!

absolute trash... I have to put a fair amount of pressure on these to get them to drip... and I mean drip. Hows a bird supposed to keep hydrated with this trash??? Go back to the drawing board and figger out a better product.... I ruined a bucket drilling these things in...

I have installed these cups into a square 5 gallon bucket and they work great and it works for my chicks, too.My chicks took to the cup immediately. Now, I don't have to clean their water supply out 4-5 times a day. Will purchase again if needed.

Keeps my girls from wasting water. They are great for my quail and keeps them from playing in the water.
