Decent toy
This toy is great because it's egg shaped and the bottom is weighted, so unlike a ball, it won't roll all over the place and just dump treats out. That said, it does dump treats out. My cat's kibble (royal canin) falls right out with minimal effort, so he gets all of the food in seconds. However, bigger treats like feline Greenies work very well with it, because only one or two will fall out at a time, so it keeps him preoccupied longer. This toy is good for distracting him momentarily and giving him a light snack between meals, but it's not much of a challenge for him. I plan on getting him a more complex puzzle toy. But on the plus side, it doesn't break open/fall apart like reviews of other toys talked about, and there's a rattle in the bottom, so it'll entertain them for a bit even after the food is gone.

My kitten loves it but my older cat doesn't understand
My kitten loves it (he's around 6 months old). My 6 year old cat doesn't understand it, though. The joy my kitten experiences using this toy/treat feeder is enough for me to rate it 4 stars. I would give it 5 but it doesn't allow all of the treat to come out, and unfortunately many treats come out at the beginning, so the "egg" is emptied quickly yet it still rattles so my kitten becomes frustrated that it isn't working anymore since he doesn't understand why he's not getting the last pieces out/his reward (we often sneakily toss over a treat to him while he is batting at the egg so he will still enjoy playing with it). And, yes, we do pick it up and refill it for him so sometimes he gets 2 eggs for playtime, but it would be nice for this to be more of an independent activity for him. I hope that makes some sense. Great product overall.

This treat dispensing toy for the kitties is a good idea however once it begins to empty the treats ...
This treat dispensing toy for the kitties is a good idea however once it begins to empty the treats seem to come out quite rapidly and the kitties at my house then just eat until they are gone and don't have to work for them any longer. Perhaps it needs to have a little additional weight on the bottom so it wouldn't stay on it's side so long. I guess I don't have the answer I just know that for some reason there is a need for it to stay upright longer so the treats don't come out so rapidly. Our furbabies still enjoy batting the empty egg around the room.

Cats love it. Poor package.
I have had a couple of this same treat dispenser for many years and since the 3rd cat came along, I wanted another one. My oldest cat is now 14 years old, I am sure my older "eggs" are at least over 10 years old. I don't keep food available all day due to special diet needs (and my Labrador would eat it all anyway). So yeah, they will work hard on them eggs to get each and every kibble out of it. Because they rarely eat dry food, I use either cat treat or regular cat food, doesn't seem to matter to them. The whole purpose is to have a certain level of dificulty, but at each tap they always get at least 1 kibble. The trick is to not over fill it, or else the kibbles will be stuck, and buy small kibbles. Because I have 3 cats, the competition can be fierce, they go extra crazy to finish quick and steal from the others. My oldest cat is VERY food driven, he took the hang of it very quick, the other 2 cats joined the family years later and learned from him. These eggs are my salvation whenever I need to keep them out of my way, you can even put a Christmas tree together without being bothered. The packaging, on the other hand, was very poor, too big for the content and not enough filling to keep things from banging around. The egg arrived open, didn't break by luck.

not the knock out i had hoped for
Rather I should say my cats are not interested in it. I take the treats out by hand in front of them and they gobble the treats -- but they just aren't interested in knocking the treats out by themselves. (And one is a mischief cat -- so I cant accuse him of being "too proper" to attack this toy. In concept it should be a good idea, but for my cats, I guess it just was not their cup of tea

Not for beginners
This should be marketed as "advanced" or something, it doesn't do well with beginner cats. We bought 5-6 different types of these (pretty much all the Prime options on here) and this one was the second least favorite. The base is heavy and causes the egg to stand upright, which makes it that much harder to get the food out the hole. Our kitties didn't really have much success with this one.Would not recommend this as a slow-feeding toy.DO recommend this as a treat toy. (put treat kibble in it)

Gives My Cat Something To Do For a Few Minutes
I had one of these before and somehow it got lost in our house, which we still can not understand how that happened....... Anyway, once the original one was lost, I could not find this item again, so I bought a larger one as a replacement, which did not wobble like this one, it just fell over and it was too easy to get the treats out. I was pleased to find this available again. This makes my cat work for something and gives him something to do.This dispenser wobbles (like a weeble, anyone remember those??), so it doesn't fall over. I don't know if my cat likes it, or if it annoys him, but he swats it all over the place and eventually he'll get all the treats out. The treats I use are small rectangles, so he has to get the rectangular treats out of the round hole. They really do all come out. I think the treats are whiskas. I think this is a great little item.

Fun for my cat, fun to watch
I've used a couple of these with my overweight cat, filling them with his regular kibble. The hole is a bit large for his kibble, but after getting the easy ones out at the top, he does still have to work to get the rest out. In fact, he usually doesn't empty it completely. It's entertaining to watch him try to get those last few pieces out. It's easy to fill- I just unscrew, put my thumb over the hole, fill with kibble, then screw the weighted bottom back on.I rotate these with the ball product treat-dispenser, which I also use with kibble. This keeps my fat cat from getting bored with one or the other. This egg shaped one is about half the size and volume as the ball, and is much easier to clean than the ball. But I have 2 of each, and both keep him working for food. So far he's still fat, but he is getting more hunting and play stimulation!
