Tuo Kiritsuke Knife
I have several high quality western style kitchen knives that I have used for years but have wanted to try a Japanese style knife. I do almost all of the cutting and chopping in my household andI bought this knife mainly to see how I would like the kiritsuke style. This was not an expensive knife and I figured I would not have lost much money if I was not happy with this style of knife. After using the knife about a dozen times I already have plans to upgrade to a more expensive kiritsuke knife and leave this one in my RV where I spend several months a year. This knife is an excellent value for the money and I am pleasantly surprised at the quality for such a reasonable price. Was sharp out of the box and seems to hold an edge fairly well. I recommend this knife, lot of value for the price.

Awesome knife, great quality! Lookout vegetables!
This knife makes chopping, dicing and cutting short work. Doesn't hurt that it's incredibly beautiful as well.Absolutely love it. I can't stand crappy knifes in the kitchen. This knife makes you feel like a pro!

Just shy of 5 Stars
First, what’s not to like?Razor sharp right out of the box (which you would think would be a given but often it’s not). Balance is good. Nice long blade. Perhaps a bit deceiving from the photos (I pictured it being a little shorter) not necessarily a negative just an observation. Handle is moderately attractive but not overly so.So here’s where I will answer my original question. The only negative I can see so far is the top edge of the knife is fairly sharp on the edges. Not prohibitively so, in other words, I wouldn’t not buy this knife Because of it. definitely worth a little filing or sanding it but for the money, it’s hard to complain so far far.Haven’t used it yet, so I can’t give a description of how easy or difficult it would to sharpen, however what I always recommend to everyone is to steel Your knives after every use (and yes this is overly often but it’s to get you in the habit of doing it otherwise you won’t) And then they simply won’t get dull at all for an extremely long time; Sure beats having to sharpen them after they do!As a gift item it certainly would be an attractive one to receive. Comes in a nice golden colored box and handsomely packaged. I’m not one who keeps my knives in their original boxes, However you certainly could and if you don’t have a good knife holder I would certainly recommend it. Nothing worse than knives clanking around in a drawer getting damaged. I see it all the time.Like I said in the description five stars if it weren’t for the sharp edges on the top, but for the price you can’t possibly go wrong unless you’re a real knife snob, in which case you can go ahead and pay six times as much and basically get the same thing with smooth edges (I know, My daughter did that And then My other daughter damaged her knife by chipping the blade and I had to have it ground down and re- sharpened.Hope this helps.

The perfect knife
I have been in a quest to find the perfect knife . This may be it. It is balanced a little bit blade-forward but the handle is smooth and comfortable. The blade is incredibly sharp and the workmanship is lovely. I would recommend this TUO knife to any person who loves to cook. It is a great price for a nice kitchen knife.

A huge step up from store-bought knives
I got this for Father's Day (for myself) after doing a LOT of research. There are some other fine brands that probably are good, maybe just as good. Don't know, but for what I'm looking for (all-purpose knife) this thing is amazing. Came REALLY sharp and ready to go. Handle made of wood fits great and the weight is perfect for all situations. Prefer this shape to the Santoku which I've used as my main knife for years. As long as I can keep this sharp, I can't imagine needing any other knife. Might just buy another to keep stored away in case something happens to this.Very happy with my purchase.Knife is a little dirty in the photos on purpose to show real use. I could get the water stains off, but I just used it for cutting some meat.

Excellent Knife
I have about 15 knifes from Tuo and they are all excellent quality. I use them both professionally and at home. Exceptional craftsmanship for the price.
