Sturdy!
I recently bought this baby gate, and it’s been a great addition to our home. Installation was quick and straightforward — took just a few minutes with no headaches. It fits securely in the doorway and feels very solid once in place, which gives me peace of mind knowing our little one is safe. The latch is easy for adults to open with one hand but secure enough that curious toddlers can’t figure it out. The height is just right, and the overall design looks clean and fits in well with the rest of our home.Whether you’re blocking off stairs, hallways, or rooms, this gate does the job perfectly. It’s sturdy, functional, and a must-have for keeping your baby or even pets safe. Highly recommend!

Works well for keeping cats out of a room
We bought this to keep our cats out of a room where there is a door we like to keep it open most of the time for ventilation.Pros:- Fairly easy to install. Thorough directions provided, albeit in tiny font.- Mostly metal construction. Certainly strong enough for keeping our cats out of rooms.- Latch is fairly easy to use. It ha a spring catch for extra security, but we don't need that.- Pressure mounting. If you have a strong door frames or walls you don't have to mount this permanently. Optional screw-mounted cups (and screws) are provided if you do want a more secure attachment.Cons (If there were half stars I might have trimmed half a star for these.):- I can see their design strategy but the latch design is such that the gate will only open one way. Of course if you need it to swing the other way you can simply install it with the other face that direction, but then the hinge is on the other side. Worth noting: If I am standing in the hallway and want to go into a room with the gate in the doorway, if the gate hinge is on the right, the gate swings into the room. I guess one could take a fine saw and trim the plastic latch on the longer side to the same length as the other side so it could open either direction. The gate would then swing either direction but it would then require that you pay attention to line up the gate with the static catch to ensure the latch is engaged. Fortunately in our main room the door and gate swing in unison. I have another room where I was thinking of using a gate and if I had the gate swing into the room I would have to make sure the actual door was open all the way or else the gate would bump into the door.- The latch (and a few other trim parts) is plastic and would be the most likely part prone to breaking. I wish they had used metal. I guess if the plastic breaks and one was only using this gate for pets, one could improvise a latch with a bungee cord or something.Tips and considerations:- Do pay attention to the instructions. The final adjustment of the uppermost pressure points is critical in making sure the latch closes properly.- For shorter openings you will not need the extension piece provided in the box.- One person could install this, but it's a bit easier with two.- The gate on this model does not close automatically (I guess if you wanted it too you could use a bungee cord or spring).- The latch is a tad confusing at first but easy once you know how it works. There's a spring safety feature (the gray, rubbery part) which holds the latch down. It requires a firm grip to slide it sideways. You can do this with one hand but I found I had to grab it at an inconvenient angle (unless you need it I wouldn't bother using it). Pull this back, then lift up on the freed end of the white plastic latch lever. You'll see the two bars holding the gate in place pull back a bit, freeing from the fixed wall piece, letting the gate swing free in one direction.- If using this in a doorway, check your doorknob height. The 30" tall model was tall enough to deter our cats from jumping over it but low enough that it didn't block the doorknob.- The gap between the bars is 2.5". If you need something with a closer gap you could always attach some netting or hardware cloth with zip ties to the metal bars.- There's a catch at the bottom too, but you have to squat down to engage it. It helps stop the gate from rattling if you have something worrying at the gate. (There's two toggles that swing down. They are a bit stiff.)- If you're concerned about denting drywall with the pressure mounting points, you can buy special cups from other vendors that spread the pressure a bit. Alternatively, simply use thin pieces of wood so the mounting pads have the pressure distributed over a wider area.- There is a bar at the bottom that's about 1.5" tall which could be a trip hazard. All short pressure mounted gates have that, so if you are worried about tripping you will have to buy a gate that has permanent wall mounts instead.- This is designed primarily as a baby gate, though the manufacturers do mention using it for pets too. A few reviewers have mentioned strength issues. It is fine for our purposes to keep cats out of a room but I guess if you had a 110 lb. Italian Mastiff constantly throwing itself against the gate then that's a different thing.

Keeping the Beast Safely Contained
This gate was purchase to keep a healthy Basenji contained in a bathroom when we leave the house since he does not like to be in wire crate. While our Basenji is a great dog ( we have 2), we feel its best to crate any dog at times for safety reasons. Some dogs will tolerate a crate better than others. While our male Basenji is OK running free in our home, he does not like a small crate. We also do not want him breaking teeth or hurting himself attempting to get out of a small crate. This is why we chose to put him in a bathroom with a Gate across the doorway where he can see out. Even so he wants out. In the past we have used another brand of gate but it was shorter in height and he could reach the plastic sliding lock with his mouth and he would chew the lock until he broke it to pieces and I would find him meeting me at the door when I came home. Also since since the other gates were only held up by pressure he could throw his body against it hard enough he sometimes could knock it down. This caused me to have to make the pressure super tight in the door jams so he could no longer do this. After going through 2 of those shorter gates I decided to look for a taller gate to get the lock away from his mouth. When I found the Regalo Easy Step Extra Tall Walk Thru Gate I decided to order it and give it a try. It arrived today and actually had good easy to follow instructions. This company also has a phone number where you can contact them and you can order replacement parts if necessary. Here are the things I like about this gate:It is tall all the way across the gate. The gate is easy to install.Depending on which way you mount the gate in the opening the metal tab may be an extra blessing in disguise and design. Pretty smart if you ask me.The lock works simply and easily. The lock can be operated with one hand and has a safety. There were mounting cups that you could screw into the Door Jams that the gate adjusters fit into so the gate does not move or slide out of the opening.Things I did not like about this gate but can live with:The door only swings one way.The parts are not all metal like advertised. I will give you a list of parts below that are plastic. These are the plastic parts:Gate lock and safety lock are plasticAdjustment wheels and feet on adjustment rods are plastic.Cups that screw into the wall to hold the adjustment feet on the rods are plastic. The gate does not open both ways.If you mount this gate in a bathroom door way like I did, keep in mind that if you plan to close the bath room door the handle of door might come in contact with the top of the gate. When I saw that I moved the gate out on the Door Jams slightly before I installed the mounting cups with screws to allow for this. Don't laugh lol but sometimes my Basenji will close the door to the bathroom LOL!All in all this appears to be a well built gate. The only disappointment are the plastic parts but most likely they are a necessary evil. At least they can be replaced if necessary. I understand why the gate only swings one way. There is a metal tab on the bottom of the gate to assist in keeping the gate closed and keep the added pressure of the plastic lock. Depending on which way you mount the gate in the opening the metal tab may be an extra blessing in disguise and design. Pretty smart if you ask me.I think the below is worth repeating:If you mount this gate in a bathroom door way like I did, keep in mind that if you plan to close the bath room door the handle of door might come in contact with the top of the gate. When I saw that I moved the gate out on the Door Jams slightly before I installed the mounting cups with screws to allow for this. Don't laugh LOL! but sometimes my Basenji will close the door to the bathroom LOL!

Safe and Sturdy, But Color Options Needed!
Still Thinking? ~ READ THIS ~This baby gate has been a lifesaver on our stairs. It's sturdy, reliable, and installs pretty easily—even for non-DIY folks like me.(Took about 15 min)!It keeps our toddler safe and out of trouble. My only real gripe? I wish it came in more colors. A white or wood-tone version would’ve matched our home way better. Not every house needs to look like a modern warehouse lol.Pros:-Perfect Height, About at and adults hip.-Very sturdy and secure-Easy to install-Works great for babies and pets-Sleek black finish looks clean in darker spaces (If that's what you're looking for)-Perfect size with extension provided-Hinges open & close quietly & smoothCons:-Limited to just black—no other color options-Lock can be a little stiff when your hands are fullOverall, great purchase & def recommend for overall safety.
