South African Droëwors - Original Recipe: Paleo, Hormone Free, Nitrate/Nitrite Free

I was born and raised in South Africa and sometimes you you crave to taste a piece of home. I have bought billing and droewors from amazon before and been every happy with my purchase. This is the first time purchasing from the seller and I feel so irritated. This purchase was very disappointing. It tastes ok if comparing it to a slim Jim but it does not taste like authentic droewors at all and the casing separates from it. Deciding weather to buy it or not I would say if you are South African and want a taste of real droewors don’t buy it. I would buy it if I was looking for a healthier replacement for a slim Jim or other beef stick.

Thought i would treat myself for my birthday and order some droewors. Arrived on time, really packed well, looked good.. Opened the package, took out the droewors. Firstly, appearance, each "pellet" is about 6 or 7cm long, which is fine, depending on what it would taste like. It is horrid...compressed dry sawdust comes to mind - not close to the texture of droewors and the flavour? There is slight hint of coriander. I was so disappointed.

This product does NOT contain vinegar* and the difference in taste is definitely apparent. Personally, I would not recommend this product for ex-pats nor droewors enthusiasts. Although the product arrived extremely late, it was packaged appropriately and the quality is excellent.* Product ingredients are listed as not containing vinegar (not noticed until tasting and reviewing the product again)

It was tasty and not too salty like some beef jerkeys.

Other dried sausages are good - these are the best.

Got a bag of droewors for xmas, very yummy and very tasty, even my american friends enjoy it. Will buy again.

It was okay, not the best but not too bad either
