Laxmi Natural Tamarind Concentrate Paste - 14oz

This was my first taste of tamarind, and I'll definitely be buying it again.I love tomatoes, but they don't love me. So when this product was recommended on a food allergy blog as a tangy substitute for tomatoes in sauces, soups, casseroles, etc., I was eager to try it.Tamarind concentrate doesn't taste like tomatoes; I didn't expect it to. But it does give that sweet and tangy taste that's missing from my "nomato" spaghetti sauce recipe. I'm looking forward to trying it in Asian sweet/sour dishes as well.Two thumbs up.

I ordered two jars of this product. The seal was broken in the first one received, and there was leakage under the plastic safety seal. I opened it and it was black inside and the lid. The seal had obviously been broken some time ago. The second jar arrived the next day. The seal was obviously broken as there was leakage in the box and all inside the bubble wrap. The jar was wet with product. I went to return or replace and this product was not returnable and not replaceable. I'm out $28 for an overpriced product to begin with.

Using this as a tomato flavor replacement. I am going to have to spend more time working with it, but so far I am pleased with results.

Hard to find ingredient, good quality, good price, important for Indian and other Asian cooking.

It is watery and not condensed. Also, the taste is weird and is not the same as Tamarind. Unfortunately, I cannot return it. So, I recommend not buying it.

I am experimenting with different recipes; this has great taste and I plan to use it to create dishes and add to sauces.

I didn't realize it would be sweetened. Not what I wanted, but I assume it's a good product if you don't want pure tamarind concentrate. I didn't bother sending it back, but did find pure tamarind locally and purchased it.
