The eighth film by Quentin Tarentino "No one comes up here without a damn good reason" Six or eight or twelve years after the Civil War, a stagecoach hurtles through the wintry Wyoming landscape. The passengers, bounty hunter John Ruth (Kurt Russell) and his fugitive Daisy Domergue (Jennifer Jason Leigh), race towards the town of Red Rock where Ruth, known in these parts as “The Hangman,” will bring Domergue to justice. Along the road, they encounter two strangers: Major Marquis Warren (Samuel L. Jackson), a black former union soldier turned infamous bounty hunter, and Chris Mannix (Walton Goggins), a southern renegade who claims to be the town’s new Sheriff. Losing their lead on the blizzard, Ruth, Domergue, Warren and Mannix seek refuge at Minnie's Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover on a mountain pass. When they arrive at Minnie’s, they are greeted not by the proprietor but by four unfamiliar faces. Bob (Demian Bichir), who’s taking care of Minnie’s while she’s visiting her mother, is holed up with Oswaldo Mobray (Tim Roth), the hangman of Red Rock, cow-puncher Joe Gage (Michael Madsen), and Confederate General Sanford Smithers (Bruce Dern). As the storm overtakes the mountainside stopover, our eight travelers come to learn they may not make it to Red Rock after all… THE HATEFUL EIGHT also stars Channing Tatum, James Parks, Dana Gourrier, Zoë Bell, Gene Jones, Keith Jefferson, Lee Horsley, Craig Stark, and Belinda Owino. Written and directed by Quentin Tarantino, THE HATEFUL EIGHT is produced by Richard N. Gladstein, Stacey Sher and Shannon McIntosh. Harvey Weinstein, Bob Weinstein and Georgia Kacandes are executive producers, and Coco Francini and William Paul Clark are associate producers.

Good movie with it's pros and cons
This was a good movie, but there were times it just dragged pointlessly. It enraptured and captured my interest, then minutes later lost it, only to capture it again. I somehow made it all the way through enjoying it overall, but it would be my least favorite Tarantino film. Usually his films are an intense force and they usually have at least one likable character. I found none of these characters all that interesting or likable. The cast is superb and they did a phenomenal job with what they were given with, but the story drags and the film is already a long one. The setting ambiance is a never-ending cold snow storm that doesn't seem to let up. I don't know if I'd recommend watching this if you're in a depressed mood. The language and the occasional violence is bloody and offensive. I don't mind and can take it, but it's pretty severe and almost forced and pointless that it could turn you off. Regardless, I still managed to find this okay, but I'm a Tarantino fan and this would fall into one of my lesser favorites of his, but worth a possible watch. I love Quentin Tarantino's movies, including the bad ones. Although the majority of my favorite films he's done were in the first half of his career like Pulp Fiction, Jackie Brown, and Kill Bill 1 & 2. I even enjoyed Death Proof. If you like Tarantino's work, then you may enjoy this to a degree.

A Brutal, Bloody, Gory, and Gritty Cowboy Movie!
Running time (2 hr. and 47 minutes), Hi-Def Picture, 5.1 DTS Sound, Widescreen picture. Crisp and beautiful cinematography. This movie hands down was a great movie! If you like cowboy movies, this is your movie. I loved every square inch of this movie. It’s well-crafted and written. This movie has beautiful and stunning cinematography, and amazingly accurate period satire, wardrobes and props. Hollywood elites, (A-list) actors (Samul L. Jackson and Kurt Russell) carried this movie very well, and demonstrated some true grit hardcore acting which was absolutely amazing. This movie is true to the period of the 1870s cowboy brutality and racism. Some reviews on this site lack education and facts. The realism and brutality in this movie are accurate to those times. They actually committed heinous atrocities back in those times, and treated women far worse than what was portrayed in the movie. The 1870s was NOT the (soft hug a tree world) we live in today, so get over it! This movie takes place after the Civil War, approximately during the (1870s). The premise of this movie is (two) Bounty Hunters trying to get their bounty to a town; Red Rock. They stop at Minnie’s Haberdashery, a stagecoach stopover to wait out a storm, when all hell breaks loose during their visit. So this movie is damn good and that’s a fact jack! This movie is not dry or boring and will hold your every attention throughout all (2 hours and 47 minutes) of detail. This movie is so well written that it actually seemed to go by a lot faster; felt more like a (2) hour movie. In terms of entertainment, this movie is a great value. It’s the kind of movie you can curl up with popcorn and just let it draw you right in! You will get your monies worth out of this movie. This movie is NOT a family movie, meaning it’s NOT for kids at all! However, its good solid adult entertainment. This movie is a true classic in the style of “Django”. I love all of (Quentin Tarantino’s) movies. The guy is absolutely brilliant! Recommend purchase on Blu-ray.The Facts:1. The movie is: 2 hrs. 47 minutes long.2. Stunning Cinematography.3. A-List acting.4. Some humor/ brutal language.5. Lots of gore.6. Hardcore violence and blood.7. Set back in the 1870s.8. True to the times of the 1870s hardcore racism.9. The movie is very entertaining.10. There are NO (dry or boring areas) in this movie.Thank you!

Another fantastic Tarantino movie
For the physical product itself, totally awesome. The case is well made and the slip-cover is textured and such. Really cool. Even opens up to some art of the eight and the cabin. For the movie itself, also awesome! Don't get me wrong, it's slow as all hell. I mean.. really slow. It's 3 hours of conversations peppered with some blood, gore, and violence. I'd say 95% of the movie is probably just people talking but that's exactly why I love it. Each character has a past that they talk about which helps them feel more fleshed out. They didn't just show up and exist for the sake of the movie. They have histories that were brought into play and the acting accompanying these histories is just beautiful. It's like a game of Clue except everyone playing in a racist, foul-mouthed a**hat that's lived a messed up life and wants to take it out on everyone else.As far as I'm concerned, all of the 1-star reviews are coming from folks with short attention spans that need explosions, 2 minutes of dialogue and then more explosions. Some are upset about the avid use of the N word throughout the film but considering this movie is about a bunch of civil war vets, uneducated gang members and other mountain folk in the late 1800's, I don't see why they would censor anything they have to say and you bet your a** a good deal of them had a lot of hatred to spew in every which way. I think the dialogue, acting and overall plot are totally time-appropriate and make the entire movie a lot of fun. The story isn't about some grand adventure to save the world or kill Hitler. It's the story of some folks who end up in a cabin together and madness ensues. If you love Tarantino's dialogue throughout his previous films and the way the characters talk to one another, you'll love this film. If you can't pay attention to people telling a story for a few hours and you'd rather see explosions for 3 hours or loads of other eye-candy, go watch Transformers. I hear there's another mind-numbing installment of that in the works.
