Great for the price, very nice look and sturdy
Really nice chest. I wanted something for the foot of my bed to hold blankets. This worked perfectly. The chest is very nice looking, and sturdy. It holds about 6 heavy blankets, like quilts. I love the clamps on the chest it makes it look like a treasure chest! I love my treasure chest!!

perfect for my use
i bought this to use in a camper, since it's very lightweight for it's size and looks way prettier than a plastic tub. it is dark wood colored but i knew that from these reviews, and it works for me.the one i got is clean, no smell, well enough made, and sturdy for a lightweight decorative piece. keep in mind that this is NOT a real antique, heavyweight, strongly put together old-school quality trunk. it just sorta looks like one. it's made with glue and brads. there are no metal parts other than the hinges and the carrying rings on the two sides. the 'ironwork' is a pressed wood or maybe wood/plastic product, but it looks great for what it is.i immediately started cutting into this thing- i drilled a bunch of 3/4 inch circles into the lower sides for air flow, wiped the holes with stain, and then dropped in my new small 12 volt fridge/freezer- perfect fit.so for my purposes, a great product. would i pay this much for this thing if it wasn't the only good looking lightweight trunk of perfect dimensions i could find? no. it's worth maybe $50, not almost $90. but for my project, worth it.

Poor
It wasn't at all what I expected. Poor quality in my honesty opinion and definitely not worth the price.

Beautiful but cheaply made chest
I like the look of the chest, but the construction leaves a lot to be desired. The wood is really thin, really soft fragile wood. It is stapled together with fine small staples. It also has really small screws. Itwould not be safe to put anything heavy in it. If you only want it for decoration or to put something lightweight in it, and you are really careful it could work. Honestly it has cracks, slivers, etcetera... It is so lightweight it feels like balsa wood. You know the cheap stuff they make toy airplanes out of (balsa). It is seriously overpriced. $20 would have been more fair.

Cute but cheap
It's a cute little trunk, but definitely less than I had hoped for. The color is significantly darker than pictured, the varnish smell was VERY strong and the aged look is achieved by applying it unevenly. The wood is thin, so good it's easy to move, bad it's not something I expect to last me years. It's cute but really cheap. I'd expect to pay about half as much for this based on quality and craftsmanship. On the brigh side, I have a place to put my extra blankets and my cat can jump up onto my bed more easily.

PERFECT
I was expecting the worse based on the previous reviews, but I really needed something for simple lightweight storage in an already crowded and generally small space. As a disabled person who can not lift things, I was surprised by how easy it was to simply slide the box into the house and unpack. The fully assembled piece actually does feel like real wood (on top), complete with a bit of splintering, which I did not mind. The corner is clean now and my fabric is stored for the winter. I recommend this piece for storage as well as simple decoration (a small coffee table or sturdy ottoman).

It’s serving it’s purpose
I didn’t read the reviews. I liked the look and what I’m using it for. Yes it is kinda small but it’s only being used for album storage. Yes it does have an odor from the wood but you can but popurrí and the smell goes away. It is serving it’s purpose. I like it. It looks great in my living room.

Fragile
I gave it a two because it is great to look at. That is it. That is all you get.I opened it up to take a look inside and what you will see is that only one side has a hinge for the lid, ok. And the back has two decorative-like hinges. I opened the lid and right away the backside side that didn't have an inside hinge popped right out. It couldn't hold the weight of the lid being open and this is right out of the box!It feels made out of presswood or something super delicate, you could put clothes or pillows in it and maybe sheets? But I wouldn't put anything like shoes or heavy blankets, it would just fall apart. I 100% regret the purchase.
