Efficient, Easy-to-Install, and Great Value for Home EV Charging!
I recently installed the Emporia Level 2 EV Charger at home, and it's been a fantastic upgrade from my Level 1 charger. This model provides incredible value, with powerful features at a competitive price. For anyone with good electrical knowledge, the installation is straightforward—I installed it outside near my electrical panel, and the provided 4-foot wires and flexible watertight conduit were more than sufficient. The only additional purchase I needed was a 60-amp breaker from Home Depot (~$18).Once installed, setup and control through the Emporia app was easy. With this Level 2 charger, what used to take 18 hours with my old Level 1 charger now takes just 2 hours! This faster charge time has given me much better control over my charging schedule. Since I’m on a Time-of-Use plan, I don’t have to keep the car plugged in all the time—just a quick top-up during off-peak hours. After using it for a month with my PHEV, I’ve gained valuable insights into my electricity usage and charging costs. Overall, the Emporia Level 2 charger is durable, attractive, and extremely functional. I would highly recommend this product to anyone looking for a reliable, affordable home EV charging solution.

Worth it!
Works great for my Chevy Bolt EV! Charges as expected. Professional installation very necessary. Only minor complaints I have is the cable itself is a little stiff so it makes putting it away a little inconvenient. Otherwise great quality and far less expensive than its competitors.

So Superior to the "Bargain" units
Wow. I had this "in my cart" up to, and after Black Friday. Decided that it's not going to be discounted below $400, and I ordered it. Then I get an email for "Save 5% (or so) with this promo code from Emporia...I decided to write to them saying that I just purchased at full price. They jumped right on it and credited me the discount. Like I said, WOW !!! And the unit is awesome! I need to connect my house monitor again (removed it for an Electrician to work on the panel) and let all report to the Emporia app. Awesome hardware, SW, and Company!Unit connected easily to our Wifi. I was able to force close to 48A into our EV6, and the port on the car never overheated in that 30 min. session. Didn't even get warm. My "other" Level 2 chargers (have 2 different brand units) were making the port hot/overheat at 40A. Superior connector to the car? I can now charge at 40A with no issue. Great to know the unit is UL Listed, my others were not (one brand claimed it was when I wrote to them--only the connector to the car was UL Recognized component). The Emporia app records each charging event in detail. And it retains all events. Spend the money and buy this quality unit! Oh, it comes with a 50A plug, but it can be altered and hardwired for a 60A drop (breaker/wiring).

Some initial problems but working great
It can be hard wired but it was not designed for this. As another reviewer stated it has to be wired with a flexible conduit as the screws to attach the front cover insert from the rear. Very difficult to get at. Also there is very little room to work with stiff #6 AWG wire to get it into the terminals. I had to get a Baomain crimper and connectors as I was unable to get the bare wires into the clamps. Hardwiring does allow you to go to 48 amps on a 60 amp breaker but the increase from 40 amps using the plug is probably not worth the effort. If you're a DIYer who has done any wiring you can do this alone. Hard wired I do get the full 11.5 KW so charging is quick. The first time I used it, it worked fine. The second time it stopped charging after an hour. I unplugged it then reconnected it and it finished the charge. The third time it wouldn't charge at all. I called their tech support and the tech connected to it over the internet. His first effort was to upgrade the firmware, which took less than a minute. It's worked perfectly since. The app works great. Easy to set up and configure. Very versatile as to monitoring charging. You can enter your rate per kWh and it will tell you the cost for all your electricity used. I live in an area with a very low off peak rate (5.15¢/ kWh) so it costs me 1.5¢/mile to operate my Ioniq 6. Very happy with this unit and really appreciate the lower price compared to other brands.

Truly the best level 2 charger
This unit is absolutely everything, as described! The price is competitive, the cord length is amazing and it works well all of the time. 5e app is extremely user friendly and because it was installed by a certified electrician, the charger is safe.
