This is an awesome Moto Mod!
This is a very useful Moto Mod. I purchased this not only for extra battery life, but I am using to extend the longevity of the internal battery. I really dislike most devices no longer have removable batteries, because the battery is usually the most likely item that deteriorates and makes a phone unusable. What I like:1. It doubles your battery size when compared to the Z Force battery! It more than doubles the other Z models.2. It can be set to keep your phone at 100% or 80%. The 80% efficiency mode is actually better for your phone’s internal battery longevity, as the last 20% of charging does the most wear on the battery.3. You can charge it separately from the phone.4. It doesn’t add too much bulk or weight to your device.5. It has a textured grip which makes holding your device more secure.6. It has 4 LED indicators showing approximately how much charge is remaining. Within the battery info screen you can see the exact amount of charge remaining. What could be improved?1. You cannot charge another device via the USB-C port. This isn’t a big deal, but it would be a nice feature.2. It does not stick to a magnetic car mount, and the metal attachments do not stick due to the ribbed texture. I used a dermal to flatten an area so I could use the metal mount. This is another minor gripe and probably would not be an issue for most users.Overall I love this mod. I plan on using it all the time, so hopefully I will put more wear on the external battery than the internal battery. I can easily replace this battery once it wears out, where I cannot easily replace the phone’s internal battery if it goes bad. Using the Economy mode will also help keep the internal battery working longer.Update 5/22/2018: This pack is amazing. I can go all day with heavy usage and no need to recharge. I find that I keep my internal battery topped off all the time which does not put wear on the internal battery. My daily charge cycles for my internal battery was usually 2 cycles per day before I got this pack, now I'm averaging maybe a 1/3 or 1/2 cycle of wear per day. Some days no wear on the internal battery at all. I use the AccuBattery app for battery monitoring. Also, I am using the Verizon bumper case and it works great with this mod: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N45Z9R9/ref=cm_cr_ryp_prd_ttl_sol_1

I Hope This Helps
Yes, the Moto TurboPower pack charges two ways, first, you can charge the phone, and when the phone stops charging, then it will charge the battery pack too, BUT this is a slowwww way to charge.Second, If you want to charge it faster, you can leave it attached to the phone, and plug the phone charger into the battery MOD only. It will only charge the battery MOD. It goes much faster, and it lights up on the back to let you know it is charging. This is just the Magnetic MOD TurboPower pack, that is charging. The place to plug in the mod, if attached, is on the right side. Slide your hand down the right side of the phone, you will feel the little cut out, plug your USB-C cord in. Make sure your USB-C cord is compatible with the Moto Z line of phones, or use the one provided by the manufacturer. If it isn't compatible, it won't work. The simplest way to charge, is just to charge the Moto Z TurboPower pack by itself. When you take it out of the box, just look at the MOD. Where the MOD is the fatest, is where the battery is located. That is towards the bottom of the TurboPower pack. Look on the right side, and find that very tiny notch and plug your USB-C, Moto Z compatible charging cord. That way, you can use your phone while it charges.I rarely take it off, because I am fond of the weight of my phone with it attached.Pull down your notification tray and make sure your MOD button is on. Go to Connected Devices and select Moto Mods. Choose how you want your device to use the Moto TurboPower pack. I use the efficiency mode, which charges the phone to 80%. Once I get there, I deactivate the MOD to save the power pack. If you leave it on, your phone just sucks it up, even if it is off. There is the problem, it drains fast. Too fast, but I feel the product works as advertised. However, my phone is new. As the phone ages, I think it will help. I am hoping Motorola improves it. Right now, I feel like it is a gimmick to empty our wallets of cash. If you really need this, purchase more than one, or get the Morphie, it is a bigger battery pack . I love my Moto Z.

My Experience
I picked up a TurboPower Pack when I got a new Moto Z phone.Loved how it works and the quick charge feature.TWO YEARS later it has slowed down a bit but still works.New - a full charge would last all night (I work nights and watch a lot of videos)Now - a full charge will get about 7 hours of video watchingSo I picked up two new TurboPower Packs. My old one I mounted to my car dash with a full time charge cord. Now I have a magnetic dash mount in the car ready to go.With my two new ones I can just rotate usage. The one I am not using is on charge so I can "swap" grab and go anytime.I keep the charge setting at 80% so my phone battery will have a longer life.Longer Phone Life !!!In the end that is what you are trying to do with this power pack.I have seen reviews about these things getting hot, but have not had that problem myself.Mine have never even been warm. A little heavy but a good trade off for the extra power.Your Choices: Trade in your phone for a new one due to the phones battery running out of steam.($500 - $1000 every three to four years) Keep you phone for many years and buy back up power packs.($90 a pop every few years or so)In the end I have had three power packs over the years. No problem with any of them !!!I do recommend them and will be buying more for myself.
