Patternmaking for Underwear Design: 2nd Edition

A Masterpiece ! Extremely Educational
Well detailed book all throughout. It goes in great detail how the lingerie industry works and why bras can be complicated not just in making but in fit. If you're smart enough you can use the book to create your own bra fitting system free from what is the industry norm ( I did- you can see mine on felicityshelly.com ). These are basic blocks which you can then use to create your own line of lingerie that suits your business' aesthetic.10/10 great book indeed !

This is very useful book with clear explanations & samples
This is very useful book with clear explanations & samples. I myself is a Lingerie Designer and have worked in the industry for 10rys, and I've not come across many books that are as detailed and have more insight in this sector. This is certainly one fantastic reference / study book to have for underwear pattern making, especially if your going into this industry! I highly recommend it!

A bit hard to understand, good drafts
So far so good! I've made a bralette and briefs. :The drafts are a bit hard to understand, but just work through them slowly and they seem to work out. Haven't tried making a bra yet, and likely won't! The bodice sloper was excellent and required essentially no fit adjustments. I think it's the best bodice sloper draft I have tried.

I like this book I felt as a pattern drafter with experienced knowledge it was easy to pick up the drafting methods! I feel it would be easy to use for someone with a bit of pattern manipulation knowledge! The only down side for me personally is that Shin only uses a 34b measurement as standard, and no where in the book is there a vary for larger sizes however with patience and a good measuring buddy you are good to go!

I have never came across anything like that (in a very bad way)
Let me start by saying that I have a BA degree in Fashion Design from LCF. I have never came across anything like that (in a very bad way)This book is written in a way that some will say technical but I have to describe it as not professional. One thing I have learned at uni is that we start with the basics and then we can do whatever we like. When I started with the basic underwired bra after just a bit the problems started, the number I was meant to use were different from the ones she was using in the figures below, also random numbers appeared that had no reference (we didn't know if it was a measurement and from which part of the body) she was just saying e.g draw a line 5cmMy end result was completely different from the one in the figure, I have made it multiple times with the same result, I have also asked my friends and we all had the same end result.I then moved to create "the lower T-cup bra pattern" and guess what? it all went wrong and you know why because you use the block from the basic underwire bra and that is not correct. The comparison between the figures and my result is way offI have contacted her with my questions, she did reply but her answer was quite vague. I didn't get a straightforward answer.

It's exactly what it says it is.
I was hesitant to buy a book that had so few reviews, but I saw that the used copies were not much less than the new one is. That is generally a sure sign that a book is worth the price. I'm glad I bought it. It is very straightforward and tells you exactly what to do. Yes, you do need to pay attention. If you expect a magic formula, you won't get it. You must take the measurements and then follow the directions. If you do, then you will have a pattern is fits or comes very close. It uses UK terminology.

Its got a ton of different drafting styles, however some of them do not explain what the points are (for example A to B) so you can't draft up in another size.

Excellent référence
J'ai plusieurs livres de ce genre (modélisme lingerie) mais celui ci est mon préféré. Clair, avec beaucoup d'illustrations techniques et facile à comprendre.
