It is special and has its special needs/uses
First thing to mention: This Battery/phone is HUGE! I've read many reviews and watched videos about it but still you would have to hold it in your hands to believe or understand the HUGEness aspect of it.It is an amazing battery with good lights and sturdy build. It also has a phone that is running Android 13. It comes with nice features and options. Some of them are questionable...Screen brightness is not the best (compared with LED phone displays) but it is doing just fine. It has a laser projector that is kind of descent. Good quality projection with good sound.MediaTek is snappy fast. No issues even with heavy loads and multiple apps and games. It is indeed very heavy but the battery would last a full week with intensive usage without needing to be charged. It lacks 5G but it's 4G coverage is very good in USA. Dual SIM is something nice to have with the Micro SD card support. I have the Jelly 2E from Unihertz (for long time now) and now this big guy. Unihertz is indeed making good phones.Call quality is amazing with nice in-call available features and loud speaker. WiFi is good and also the wireless modem.

UPDATE Oct 14th 2023:I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another phone from Unihertz. I've had zero call issues. Zero texting issues. Fi/tmobile works really well with it in my area. Even not dropping where I've had other phones drop service.I genuinely like unihertz, their innovative weird phones, and their willingness to respond to and support people. With that said, I'm retiring this phone for now. I missed my opportunity to return it because I was enjoying it too much, and waiting to see what happened with the display/fixes :)I don't like that the firmware isn't publicly available. In fact, my previous invite to download it, is no longer functioning. I was wanting to see if they updated the image, after their latest update. It's just atypical behavior to obscure things imo :/I'm unclear if this device is currently affected by CVE-2023-4211, which I know affects Mali-G77 (tank 2 is Mali-G57 I think) with certain drivers. There's evidence it's in the wild too. Arm patched things on Oct 24th. The lack of openness, ability to grab and inspect firmwares, and concern of security updates have driven me to stop using this phone.Otherwise, Unihertz addressed every one of of my concerns along the way, helped, and made good on their delivery of the updates they said they would. But Without regular updates, the entire android echosystem is just too crazy to not stay up on the software. Which is why I wish they would release their kernel source and images, so lineageOS or something that stays up to date, could be used. In fact, it just seems like they would be better off, to run or support an open echosystem such as lineage. It would add to the phones appeal a great deal, to a much larger audience. That's just my take on it. Maybe it's just not that simple.I'd return it if I could. However I'm not upset I still own it, and maybe things will change in the future. I wish unihertz the best, and I hope they come out with something else that I'll want to own :) This thing was a tank. Heck, if they had firmware options, I'd grab one of the tiny jelly phones to land on the other extreme :)For now I've jumped ship to 7 year support and regular updates, elsewhere on a boring phone that I know will have regular and future updates.Uhh, my best run time was 9+ days, and around 11 hours of screen time. I've only charged half a dozen times while using this phone :) I've dropped 6% on my final charge in 24 hours, with 3:30 hours of screen time. It's crazy :)I used the large light once while looking for a horse harness in a field at night. I've used the projector much less as of late, since the fun wore off, however I still like it. I've really enjoyed video calls on this phone, more than any other. Hours of that at a time is nothing, and the speaker is comfortable :)For browsing the internet, I adjust "Smallest width" in developer options to 485dp. IMO this makes web browsing much better on this 20:9 horrible aspect ratio. I dislike this 20:9 trend. It's terrible. Making this adjustment, will mess with the placement of the button/shutter on the camera, and puts it in a weird place.I really wish unihertz would release a 16:9 phone. They are in zero supply. Unless you can afford a pixel fold!Neat phone. Sorry for the long rant.UPDATE oct 9 2023:Got the 120hz update in Sept. It was only 50Mb but took a loooong time to apply. The restore images are are still not public, and are not updated to latest.Removing what really looked like a sturdy screen protector, from the camera, fixed the flash blooming. Soooo be sure to remove that. Giving two more stars. The source code for the kernel isn't released. Therefore there are no open firmwares.UPDATE: still like the phone. Still waiting for 120hz update. The flash is unusable. It'll seep into the camera via the glass shield like a light pipe. It's especially bad on the wide angle lense. Unusable actually. Therefore you really can't use the flash. So, that sucks. Sigh. I removed 3 stars. I can overlook a bad camera, but this is non functional. I'm bummed. IR doesn't have this issue. But normal flash does. They shouldn't have put the flash behind the same glass as the cameras, is my best guess....---------------------4 days 5 hours. 7 hours 45 minutes screen time. I'm at 14% battery. I've gotten 13 hours of screen time before. It's goofy. It's large. It's heavy. It's ridiculous. I love it. When it gets really wet, the speaker may get quiet. It dries out. It's loud. I leave the display timeout at 30 minutes lulz. The camera app sucks. You can't just select the camera you want. You can't video the wide angle etc. Kind of limited. Flashlight bleeds through the glass into the camera causing blooms.... Only one button is fully configurable. The power button is incredibly light and easy to bump. Or even power is off intentionally when clutching this phone. The ir app sucks and isn't a full app.I'm keeping the phone. I line some of the stuff that unihertz does. This is my first phone from them and I've submitted a lot of feedback. I'll be curious how long updates happen. Waiting on the 120hz screen update. I'm hopeful.I like some features. You can arbitrarily deny apps network. Mobile or Wi-Fi or both. I wish all phones did this. Some is the other background controls are less clunky than other phones I've usedThe audio quality both recording and with apps in my opinion is much higher than usual. I'm very comfortable on speaker phone, and so is the other person with but a lot of artifacting and good depth to my voice. It's probably my favorite ever device for that. Videos calls and things.Great for external camera use. Things that need powering... Ir cams, cameras on wires etc. Never worried about having power.I wish the screen aspect ratio were not so thin and long. So it's not the best for reading imo. I don't mind the dpa it whatever, but do mind the 1080. Wish it were x1200.A very good offering, and really peaked my interest in unihertz. Other phones have zero innovation. So really like my big dumb phone.Yes I've used the big lights. Usually not the cool white one though. But I hunted for a horse harness in a field one night. I also set it on a glass table during dinner one night. It provided some light that was needed. The projector is functional, but goofy. It's always 90 degrees off. So, it's never utilizing it's best case scenario on resolution, unless you sent things up and don't touch it. Since it's oriented wide, ad have preferred it be on the length side is the phone not the short side. Either way, I've used it some, but it's not amazing. But can do in a pinch. For my use cases, I've been enjoying this phone. I'll take it's shortcomings, at least it's different, and provides some real innovative utility. Sound. Audio recording quality. Longevity. Utility.I do have terrible plugging in the USBC. And I do that in the car when I want to use Android Auto...... It's like it not recessed enough. This phone does what it says it does. Don't buy it, if you don't have a use case though :)Thanks unihertz. I've seen no real reviews for this phone so I thought I'd give one.Oh, build quality is great. Think "tank". I've not dropped it, but I've projected under water. The screen is my only concern dropping it. So hopefully I can get parts or replace that. Cause the isn't any other reason this can't be a 5 year phone. It's built well imo. It's best feature, besides battery life imo is call quality. Surprising. It's worst feature, besides weight, is the screen aspect ratio. I really would enjoy it more, if it were a tiny bit wider.
