Still a stimulating read if imagination given free reign.
I have already reviewed this purchase and gave it my highest praise. My only reservation remains, perhapsthe content and style is rather dated for modern children more used to visual stimulation rather than using their own imagination.

Brilliant so far
Well presented collection added to my increasing Library. The Borrowers takes me back to my childhood when I watched the BBC series. I thought there was only one Borrowers book so was delighted to find this collection at a great price. I'm just finishing the first book and it is keeping me on the edge of my seat. I also like the feeling that my vocabulary is being expanded by the language used. Alot of modern children's books lack this these days.

The Borrowers
I read the first three books in the Borrowers serial by Mary Norton, as a child and loved them.A rather poor Hollywood film spin of some time ago , can't even remember who was in the film.but it tainted the memory. However I recently purchased a lovely film called "Arrietty " by the producer Hiromasa Yonebayashi,The Manga style film and Japan's take on the British and the Borrowers is wonderful.Arrietty is quite a modern role model in both the film and the book, not a cissy girl by a long way.The film inspired me at fifty five to revisit the books, really, really lovely every bit as captivating as Harry Potter. The language and moral lessons are only slightly dated, not many kid's around would know about hat pins, cotton bobbins, and Blotting paper. The creatures and Hedgerow Fruits in The Borrowers Afield would leave most modern children at a loss,Perhaps that's a bit harsh, I still have faith in modern children.I'm sure there are parents who still take there children out into the country sideThe Borrowers still should be riveting to modern children with a love of adventure.I never knew Mary Norton was responsible for writing Bed nob and broomstick, again this book outstrips theFilm from Disney.A book I read as a child along the lines of The Borrowers, I have failed to trace was Called, I seem toremember "The adventures at Marsden Manor" if any one can provide or correct this info I would love to trace this book.

A classic. I will be reading this book to ...
A classic. I will be reading this book to my granddaughters, and because they live over 200 miles from me. I'll record it and put it on CDs so they can have a bedtime story any time they like

Great value and prompt delivery
Bought for a young friend of my acquaintance as I'm trying to encourage her to read 'older classics' rather than David Walliams or Percy Jackson type modern stories.Went down well!.Excellent value and prompt delivery.

Great
This was a really reminiscent read for me, as I loved the books as a child. It was definitely worth it - it's fascinating reading about the 'little people', and tickles the fancy that people have for hoarding.

Great value set of books
Great value - and such good stories - that my children love. They watched the film first and are now working their way through the books.
