Q: Is the 10.6 pack of one for left hand

Q: Do you have to slide your arm into this?

Dont remember if it opens up completely. But I do remember that you can open up the Velcro straps alot to put your arm in with ease. Hope this helps

Q: is this sturdy enough to use a shovel or other tools and keep my husbands arthritic wrist immobile? we can't so the surgery until the spring.

Hi friend, yes this forearm brace can keep wrist and forearm in one level. Thus the wrist cannot bend or move freely like before.

Q: Is this lined with fabric to be soft? Does it have metal or plastic insert for strength? Thanks

Very soft fabric. The problem is equally soft and not so delicate fabric is also on the outside, which doesn't fare well after awhile with the strong velcro attaching to it. It starts pilling, and then the velcro won't stay attached as well. The inserts are a soft light metal which can be bent easily to custom support things (Which is listed right in the description).
