This trailer coupler lock is very expensive vs others on the market but it offers far better protection as you can lock up the safety chains too. I use this on my boat trailer, in combination with a few other security measures and this is probably the best deterrent since it’s a very heavy duty steel coupler that covers the coupler, safety chains, and isn’t easily broken off or bypassed like the others. I feel much better about the security of my boat now.

When the item arrived (after my trailer arrived) I realized that I had ordered the wrong one. There was a card in the box that said if you order the wrong one, initiate the return through them and NOT Amazon, so I did. After I received the shipping label, I returned it and the correct one was sent to me. Fits like it should and is a tank. Great customer service.

This lock is made out of heavy gauge steel and will be a BIG deterrent to trailer thieves! I have a lot of money in my camper and wanted a lock that would hold up and make the thieves want to go to the next trailer :) Looks like this one will. Great customer support on the phone and very responsive.

The Proven Industries Model 2178 trailer coupler lock is a very well made. The welding, weight, fit, and finish were all top shelf in the example that I received. Although any lock system can be defeated with the correct tools and time, the Proven system is very robust and introduces a level of security not found in many less expensive competitors. This said, the 2" Model 2178 that I ordered through Amazon did not fit my particular application. The locking latch on my 2" hitch is equipped with an external yoke that slides over the ball receiver in the locked position. I contacted Proven Support and learned that they manufacture a Model 2178-A that is designed for my application. Proven Support did not reply to my phone call, and their chat line was initially slow to respond. However, once we made contact through chat, I found them very responsive and helpful. The fault in the product that I received from Amazon was my own. Proven Support was very helpful in getting my mistake resolved and in offering and exchange, free of restocking fees, with immediate shipment. I am awaiting receipt of Model 2178-A.

The lock I purchased is built like a tank! Made from thick steel with a coating on it. I can’t imagine any thief will try steeling my boat with this on it. Sure it could be defeated with a great deal of effort and some heavy equipment. But I am sure any thief will take one look at this lock and move on to an easier target. Unfortunately I purchased the wrong lock for my particular boat and had to return it. This company was very responsive, sending me a paid return shipping address label and after having me take a picture of my boat trailer, replaced the lock with the correct one free of any expenses for me! This is a super company .

They called and asked for a pic of my trailer hitch to ensure they were sending the correct one as shipping back was expensive. Arrived all the way from Florida to BC Canada in a week. Worth every penny to protect my trailer and boat from thieves

This lock is and works exactly the way it was designed. The device is made of good thick stock and it will take the abuse of someone trying to remove it. Well done folks.

I had issue that lock did not fit for my RV, asked Proven Industries and got support immediately without cost. Really appreciate that.

After making initial Amazon order, Proven Industries contact me by email requesting photos of trailer tongue to confirm correct lock style was ordered. The lock was received a few days later.Easy to install and disassemble. Heavy duty components that seem very robust. Unique key should be very difficult to duplicate or pick.
